| 75 billion investments of new policy draft predict |
| |
Islamabad: The Government makes a new five years investment policy to attract
approximately $75 billion local and overseas investment in the next five years in oil and
gas, energy and agriculture sectors that would offer tariff incentives. Waqar Ahmed, the

Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in various sectors of the economy. These SEZs has
already been set up across the country. The minister added that investors would be
provided with five year’s duty holiday on imports of raw material and machinery, and to
developers for a period of ten years. The plan would provide optional disagreement
resolution mechanism to investors, which would have legal cover, and end meddling of
27 different agencies.
The policy includes investment approach having three action programs to be a magnet for
foreign direct investment. These include developing the international icon of Pakistan as
an investment site, endorsing investment projects internationally and proposing services
to potential distant investors in Pakistan. These three action programs would be interreliant
and equally helpful, having mechanism of a logical investment endorsement cycle.
The investment promotion activities in Pakistani agencies Smeda, PC and PPIB would be
co-ordinate with the foreign investment promotion plan with a sight to maximizing the
combined efforts and distributing a sound message about Pakistan to the international
investors.
The minister maintained that with improvement of law and order situation after operation
against militants not only Pakistan's picture had improved overseas but also the overseas
investors are enthusiastic for making investment in different sectors of the economy. He
believed that the new rule would proceed as a channel for pulling investment and assist in
carrying about economic strength and employment production. The investors would be
provided one-window procedure at over 24 buildings of SEZs in dissimilar cities, and
they would be given guarantee for persistence of policies. This initiative would lend a
hand in attaining about $15 billion annual foreign and local investment in various sectors
of the economy.
The minister said that provinces were also asked and taken on board concerning the
future policy. The new policy would be based on about three or four pillars, including
establishing a structural public-private policy talk, intensification investment protection,
introducing a foreign investment endorsement strategy, and increasing the capacity
building. Waqar said that the public and private sectors on it and for seeking inputs from
other stakeholders were unveiling the policy to have dialogue. The minister believed that
the policy would provide a baseline for taking out other economic policies and would
help pull off the most wanted economic steadiness and employment generation.
He did not give timeframe any for completion of the policy, which had been made
announced publicly looking for inputs from media and other stakeholders. He avoided

Important emissions sources include coal-fired power generation, waste incineration,
cement, steel and alkali production, gold and other metals mining, landfills and other

| 25 amenity plots in illegal possession of builders |
| |
Karachi: The Sindh government has unsuccessful to stopped land mafia from clutching
and intruding public plots that allotted to various NGOs for welfare works. Some
powerful people from the ruling alliance, workers of coalition partners and land grabbers
for housing and commercial purposes occupy most of the plots. Official sources at Sindh
Katchi Abadi Authority (SKAA) said, the government had decided lease to area residents
for welfare works at amenity plots but some powerful people encroached these plots and
constructed buildings and commercial plazas. They said, “Around 25 amenity plots are
currently occupied by builders mafia in Sultanabad, Generalabad and Gulshan-e-Iqbal
that allotted to various NGOs and noble persons for welfare activities, but the land could
not be utilized accordingly.” Further added, “Builders’ mafia had occupied these vacant
plots and warned the owners of dire consequences for demanding land.” They said the
authority had allotted some amenity plots to ministers, secretaries and advisers in the past
to utilize the land for the establishment of schools, hospitals and mosques but they could
not ensure utilization of land accordingly and built commercial plazas and residential
buildings on vacant plots.” They added, “The authority had informed these influential
people about the policy but they violated the rules and regulations after completing
service tenure.”
The sources said amenity plots worth billion of rupees, recently intruded by builders’
mafia in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, situated at prime lands, but in spite of several attempts, the
authority could not get these plots vacated due to political pressure. The field officers
when visited the sites of these occupied plots for an investigation, private guards pointed
gun towards them and asked them to leave. They said amenity plots of Sultanabad and
Generalabad engaged by some local leaders of political parties along with obligations by
central leaders of these political parties concerning elimination of land grabbers from
amenity plots. On the other hand, their workers remained busy in locating government
land for occupation, they added. “If the government and the coalition partners warn their
workers for vacating all amenity plots, the authority can straighten up its record.” They
said keeping in view the current situation regarding occupation of amenity plots, the
authority had decided to take a strict action against land grabbers and builders mafia by
its own if the provincial government declined helping SKAA. They said. “The authority
would hold its meeting with Sindh Minister for Katchi Abadis and Spatial Development
to finalize an action plan against land mafia.” |

| EU missed verification in Intel antitrust case |
| |
San Francisco: According to a source who had seen a top-secret report, A European Union
official will tell antitrust regulators they were unsuccessful to think about “potentially
exculpatory” proof in a decision against chipmaker Intel Corp.
The European official its nongovernmental investigator cannot overturn the European
Commission's choice to fine Intel a record 1.06 billion euros for antitrust violations. However,
his comments may put a fired to Intel's application against that decision to be heard over
coming years. The Commission in May lined that Intel had unlawfully used its power to
press competitor Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD.N) out of the market, underlining its
determination in going after big corporations such as Microsoft (MSFT.O) that have long
drawn antitrust scrutiny. [ID: nLM380346] The EU's ombudsman annoying the regulatory
body for deteriorating to record in its case a formal account of an August 2006 meeting
between the Commission and a senior Dell Inc (DELL.O) executive. European Ombudsman
P. Nikiforos Diamandouros, cannot overturn the fine, but blamed the Commission of “bad
administration1”, according to a source who had read a secret description of his report. The
source not certified to comment on the record. Diamandouros is one of the few selfgoverning
check on the Commission's antitrust agency, which has haggard flames for being
judge, jury and prosecutor, not in favor of corporations.
A report said: "The report says that the executive, who is not identified, is believed to have
told investigators that Dell viewed the performance of Intel rival Advanced Micro Devices
Inc. (AMD) as ‘very poor.’ This kind of statement may propose Dell chose Intel chips for
technical reasons, rather than being strong-armed. Even though the statement would have
been improbable to persuade the EC from its verdict, it could have influenced the direction of
the investigation.
EC representative Alain Bloedt said, declining further remark, “The Commission has fully
respected Intel's right of defense.” Intel has begun a years-long plea process to the European
Union's Court of First example, in which it is gratis to quote the ombudsman's views.
Intel in the next quarter took a 25 cent per share charge for the fine, which twisted an 18 cent
per share profit into a net loss of 7 cents per share -- its first quarterly lo Collins Stewart
analyst Ashok Kumar said, "Intel has significant balance sheet strength. They have very deep
pockets. I think the way the market is interpreting the EU fine is 'okay, that's water under the
bridge. Let's go back to focusing on the operations of the company.” “The question now is, is
there any precedent for the EU losing the appeal?”
The Court of First Instance has total appraisal right and has frequently slash fines for firms
found to have work secretly with someone to fix prices. By difference, the Intel case is a
single firm "abuse of dominance," as in the Microsoft case where the fine was not cut. Shares
in Intel rose 1 percent in after-hours trading after concluding down 1.1 percent at $18.50 on
the NASDAQ. The report is predictable to boost the views of European Commission critics,
who say the body used too much power. The two United States antitrust agencies more often
than not have to bring their facts before courts and win the endorsement of a judge. Most
competition agencies around the world, on the other hand, have selected the European model
over that of the United States. Dell said it cooperated with the European Union but would not
remark on the particulars of its business negotiations or discussions with EU personnel. He
said, another Intel representative Chuck Mulloy also declined to comment. “There is nothing
publicly available from the ombudsman at this time.” AMD could not right away reach for
remark. |

| Child labor in the Emeralds mines---Colombia |
| |
IOM in Colombia has united forces with Colombia's Emerald Federation (Fedesmeraldas), the
Colombian Family Welfare Institute (ICBF) and the United States Agency for International
Development (USAID) in a new scheme aimed at finishing child labor in the emeralds mines.
Child labor has been a nail for the past 20 years in the city of Muzo, in the section of Boyacá, the
main manufacturer of Colombian emeralds. Many mothers left widowed in the 1980s and 1990s by
continuing violence have been enforced them to take their children to work in the mines to make
money enough to nourish the family. The new project, which marks working families, includes the
intensification of school infrastructure in Muzo by building extra classrooms, bathrooms, a teacher's
lounge and a playground, as well as the growth of classes to three sessions per day to let all of the
children in the area to go to school. Seminars and psychosocial hold up for families will also be
making available.
José Angel Oropeza, IOM Chief of Mission in Colombia said, “The project is focused on
discouraging child labour and on helping the families. But as a consequence, IOM and its partners
are hoping to quash any possibility of child trafficking.” According to ILO statistics take out from
the official National Household Survey of 2007, there are 8,499 children in Colombia functioning in
pits and quarries extracting gold, emeralds, coal and clay. The Department of Boyacá is one of the
regions with the uppermost rank of child labor. With USAID funding of US $500,000, the scheme
will straightforwardly assist 300 families with children and young people working in the emerald
mines or at danger of becoming child laborers in the mining municipalities of Muzo and San Pablo
de Borbur. Maria Sichaca, a mother belonging to the Parents' organization of the school in Muzo,
says that the plan is very significant and has wanted for a long time. Maria says, “The children
should not be working in the mines exposed to all of the associated dangers. They should be
studying and playing.” |

| UNITED NATIONS IMPLORES FOR TOUGHER ACTION AGAINST SEXUAL
VIOLENCE |
| |
UN chief Ban Ki-moon and Security Council members begged for harder action to finish sexual violence
in African clashes and asked for the creation of a top UN post to guard women's rights. Ban Ki-moon told
the 15-member Security Council during a debate on “Women, Peace and Security.” He said, “Despite
some progress over two decades, the deliberate targeting of civilians through acts of sexual violence
continues on a widespread and systematic basis. I have met victims of sexual violence. I am haunted by
their testimony.”
The debate called to talk about the accomplishment of a Security Council resolution implemented last year
that elevated rape and sexual aggression to the rank of a war offense when perpetrated as part of a
methodical attack. Ban also advised the council to approve the establishment of an independent panel that
would tasked with investigating violations of international humanitarian and human rights law. The board
would focus on disagreements in Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Sudan, three
areas where rape regularly used as part of fighting.
Finishing sexual violence, chiefly in Africa, is also a proclaimed main concern for the United States. US
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is thinking to lift the issue when she travels to DRC on Monday.
There, she is to meet with sufferers of the sexual violence in eastern DRC, according to a UN report
where more than 3,500 women have raped since the start of the year. The UN Ambassador Susan Rice
also put pressure on the need to fight against sexual violence at the top of the UN agenda. She said,
“Efforts to combat sexual violence must be placed squarely on the political agenda as well when countries
are searching for lasting stability and peace.” She added, “The UN and its member states and future
mediators should address sexual violence in today's peace processes and include them from the very start
in future peace talks.” Other Security Council associates also backed calls for powerful steps to cut out
sexual aggression.
Jean-Pierre Lacroix deputy ambassador to the UN said, “France backs the principle of a panel tasked with
investigating and proposing more effective mechanisms to prosecute perpetrators of sexual violence.”
He said Paris also maintained the meeting of a top UN official tasked with "spearheading the fight against
sexual violence throughout the UN system.” Marianne Mollmann, women’s rights advocate at New Yorkbased
Human Rights Watch. “Where women have been more directly involved in peace processes, the
negotiated solutions have been more likely to include the concerns of the society as a whole.” And HRW
Friday insist on that a UN top official be chosen to oversee efforts to stop the progress of the violation
against women's rights, criticizing the world body for being “almost all talk and hardly any action” on this
issue. |

| Internet will be next politicking for Japanese politicians |
| |
Japanese opponent policymaker Seiji Ohsaka disappointed. When he found to stop posting microblogs on social
networking services, Twitter once the formal campaign begins for an August 30 election. However, as Japanese
politicians progressively more eye the Internet as a way to encourage independent voters. Ohsaka and others
speculate if an outdated ban on cyber demonstration will really hold. He said “Really, it will have to be used in
campaigns. It is no longer possible to say 'don't use it', 50-year-old Ohsaka, one of Japan is few tweeting
lawmakers and a member of the opposition Democratic Party. Even if our murmurs on Twitter might violate
Japan's election law, it is probably impossible to stop it ... even if we are told to cease speaking.”
Japan's 1950 election law has been interpreted as barring candidates from updating websites, sending e-mails, or
tweeting, once the official campaign begins on August 18. The law, along with voter unresponsiveness and a
liking for old-style campaigning has kept cyber politics from taking off in high-tech Japan, where around 70 %
are plugged into the Internet. That means Japanese politicians' cyber policy insulate far behind the sort of
organized attempt seen in the 2008 US presidential election, where Barack Obama's campaign reached out
through online videos, social networking sites and text messages to motivate huge numbers of voters and raise
money. Impetus for change, however, is building as competition heats up after a half century of almost
unbroken rule by Japan's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). The opponent Democrats, who surveys show have a
good shot at get rid of the conventional verdict party and ending its half-century of almost unbroken rule, have
already came out in favors of lifting the Internet ban in their policy delineate.
The conflict of conventional voter blocks such as farm cooperation’s and unions and the rising control of
independent voters, who now responsible for up to 50 % of the voters against 20 % in the 1980s, means cybersavvy
politicians will have an edge. Etsushi Tanifuji, a professor at Tokyo's Waseda University Said “Parties
are being asked to link with individuals. In order to do so, they will have to deploy various methods and the
Internet is likely to play a big role in this.”
Yoshikazu Iwabuchi, a professor at Nihon University in Tokyo. Change, however, happened and added “When
vested interests face a turning point with the appearance of a new type of media, they feel threatened and it has
been hard for them to give a green light.” With online political campaign outside the official campaign period
permitted, blogs by lawmakers and YouTube videos of cabinet ministers are becoming more common. The LDP
has displace its website, which now features an animated cartoon portraying Democratic Party leader Yukio
Hatoyama as a smooth-taking suitor full of ambiguous promises and an interactive quiz about Prime Minister
Taro Aso.
The Democrats, for their part, transmit news conferences live online and offer downloadable games. Online
donations are not conventional on either party's website and most well-known politicians avoid social
networking sites. But some in the private sector are trying to change that. Japanese Internet shopping mall
operator Rakuten Inc said in July that it would soon start a Website accepting individual political donations by
credit cards. And Internet search engine Google Inc has started a service in Japan where candidates and parties
can answer questions from users on YouTube. Legal barriers aside, experts say another barrier to the spread of
cyber politics persists: voter lack of interest towards politics. Tetsuro Inaba of Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo
found that only about 22 % of Japanese voters said, they received information online for the last election in
2005, a survey by. According to the Pew Research Center, “That compared with 40 % in the United States for
the 2008 presidential election.” Nihon University's Iwabuchi said, “When voters mature and develop interest in
politics, then the Internet for the first time may be able to contribute to democracy.” |

| In Asia 50 million women at risk of HIV infection |
| |
BALI, Indonesia: Fifty million women in Asia are at danger of infected with HIV for the reason that of
the risky sexual behavior of their husbands or boyfriends, foremost health experts said in a report on
Tuesday. More than 90 % of the 1.7 million women now living with HIV in Asia infected while being in
monogamous, long-term relationships with men who engaged in risky sex behavior. These comprise
men who had other sexual connections or who were drug users, the report started by UNAIDS said, “We
need to target men who engage in paid sex, injecting drug users, men who have sex with men, who can
transmit the virus to their partners.”
Jean D'Cunha, regional director of the United Nations Development Fund for Women in South Asia,
told a news conference held on the margins of an HIV/AIDS conference in Bali. “We need to question
the attitudes, values and behavior and transform these so that women would be less vulnerable to
HIV/AIDS.” While the matter of sex disparity is often unnoticed or laughed off, experts say it cannot
take flippantly in the context of HIV/AIDS, a disease that can transmitted through sexual contact and
which is untreatable. Sex workers, who have very little bargaining authority to start with usually forced
to obey when their customers say no to use condoms. Back home, the wives of these men too have no
power to demand that condoms be used even if they familiar about the risky sexual behavior of their
husbands. While the brawl against the AIDS epidemic has seen development on some fronts, women
carry on bearing the force of it. Women make up 35 percent of all adult HIV infections in Asia now, up
from 17 percent in 1990.
OVERTURNING A CULTURE
Maire Bopp-Allport, head of the Pacific Islands Aids Foundation, thin the AIDS virus from her
boyfriend around 1996. Today, she is a recognizable stature in the worldwide fight against the disease.
She told Reuters, “At the heart of the issue are thousands of years of education to our males that it's okay
to think that women are there to simply serve them and do everything they want. We need to bring a
new culture where it's not okay.” She added, “They need to be able to think that the abuse of a woman is
the abuse of their daughters when their daughters become women.” |

| Children trafficking around the world |
| |
Virginia: Canadian John Wrenshall accused of transporting American child predators to Thailand
to have sex with children, filming their offenses and then distributing the images over the
Internet. However late last month, the 62-year-old was transferred from Britain to the United
States to face trial, in a procedure led by U.S. federal immigration police. The U.S. Immigration
and Customs Enforcement agency best known for its role securing the United States' physical
borders against drug and human smugglers and traffickers. However, it is now playing a role
policing the nation's “virtual frontier” against a surge in child pornography, sex tourism and
trafficking in minors carried out over the Internet. Special agent Don Daufenbach, a few miles
outside Washington D.C, “Bad things, harmful things, dangerous things, criminal things are
crossing unseen electronically.” “Our job is to stop bad things coming into the country.”
Specialized agents, combining police, intelligence and computer forensic skills, work with
Daufenbach whose team's efforts have led to the arrest of over 11,600 people worldwide since
2003 counterparts from police forces across the United States and around the world said. “We
don't really care where the bad guy is, we don't really care who grabs them first, the main
objective here is to protect the child.”
WORLDWIDE EPIDEMIC
More than 1.5 billion people at present go online around the world, a figure that is predictable to
reach 2.2 billion by 2013, according to a recent study by Research. Investigators and child
protection specialists say child misusage is setting off online as broadband access grows and the
cost of laptops, digital cameras and videos fall. The National Center for Missing & Exploited
Children has reviewed some 25 million child pornography videos and images flowing online in
the past six years alone. “Suddenly the pedophile discovers that there are thousands like him
around the world, with whom he can network and connect, said NCMEC president Ernie Allen.”
“There is clear evidence that these people are sexually abusing children, photographing or
videoing it ... and distributing it to like-minded individuals.” Away from so-called “peer-to-peer”
sharing among predators, investigators say a growing number of tech-savvy criminal
organizations are also piling into the movement. They more and more sell child pornography
through web sites that can put up and taken down in hours, storing the income through online
card processing centers.
Jae Alexander Khu, section chief at C3, which also probes money laundering and intellectual
property theft said, "What we're now finding are criminal enterprises harnessing technology and
using the Internet to make it a business. It's a global epidemic,"
STAYING ONE STEP AHEAD
President Barack Obama announced he would name a controller to guide the brawl against
cybercrime intimidating the networks that strengthen the U.S. government and economy. But
Melissa Hathaway, who led a 60-day White House appraisal of cyber policies, prepared to accept
this month and withdrew her application for the reason that of delays in filling the post. As the
government wrestles with its cyber crime strategy, ICE investigators say online predators are
using ever-greater slyness to hide their identities. Some use “covering devices” -- technology that
masks a computer's network location or IP address. They are also amassing hundreds of
thousands of images and videos of abuse on easy-to-hide “thumb drives” or even hiding files
online.
Peter Buchan, a computer forensic specialist at C3 says, "Online storage is horrible. Let's say, I
go through someone's computer and I do not see that he's got an account somewhere for online
storage, I may never find that.” “Online storage is horrible. Let's say, I go through someone's
computer and I do not see that he's got an account somewhere for online storage, I may never
find that,” says Peter Buchan, a computer forensic specialist at C3. Although Ice’s act to round
up and arrest suspected against the law migrants has attracted violent criticism, their attempt to
combat Internet child abuse has won a respect. Allen said, “They have been really the front line
with this effort. Ultimately what are at stake are the protection and the safety of the world's
children.” |

Khartoum: On Wednesday a Sudanese female journalist will be punish and to be
flogged 40 times in Khartoum for wearing clothes that was against t the Islamic sharia
law, 10 women were already flogged for this offence. Lubna Ahmed al-Hussein, who
writes for the left wing, Al-Sahafa Newspaper and working for the media sector of the
United Nations Mission in Sudan. She was arrest in Khartoum before this month after
being caught wearing trousers. Hussein Said AFP in an invitation to journalists to attend
her court appearance and flogging and added, “I received a telephone call from the
authorities saying I must appear at 10 am (0700 GMT) on Wednesday in front of the
judge. It is important that people know what is happening.”
She said, “They will lash me 40 times, and also fine me 250 Sudanese pounds (100
dollars).” Hussein said on 3 July she was sitting in a restaurant when police came and
told 13 women wearing trousers to come with them to the police station. Two days later,
ten of the women flogged ten times each. The women flogged previous this month
included some from animist and Christian south Sudan where the Islamic law does not
apply. Police have also fractured down on another woman journalist, Amal Habbani, after
she wrote an article accusing Hussein's treatment. Habbani wrote an article for Ajrass Al-
Horreya Newspaper following the arrests entitled “Lubna, a case of subduing a woman's
body.” Habbani said AFP after she was charged with insult of the police, for which she
faces a fine of up to several hundred thousand dollars if found guilty. “I am waiting for a
decision.”
The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information said that in Habbani case her claim
that Hussein’s arrest was “not about fashion but a political tactic to intimidate and
terrorize opponents.” The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information said the charge
against Habbani stem from her claim that Hussein's arrest was “not about fashion but a
political tactic to intimidate and terrorize opponents.” Dissimilar from many other Arab
countries, women have a prominent place in Sudanese public life, particularly in the Gulf.
On the other hand, human rights organizations say some of Sudan's laws show favoritism
against women. |

| Khaleda Zia set free in corruption case----Bangladesh Supreme Court |
| |
Dhaka: Bangladesh's Supreme Court on Thursday cleared former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda
Zia in a corruption case involving the Canadian oil exploration firm, Niko Resources Ltd. The
country's Anti-Corruption Commission had blamed Khaleda of deteriorating to recover millions of
dollars in compensation for environmental damage from a fire at a Niko-operated drilling site, in
return for a not mentioned amount of money.
In 2005, the fire broke out in northeast Bangladesh when Khaleda was prime minister. A court
registrar said, "A full bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice M. M. Ruhul Amin
finally dismissed the charge upholding a similar order of the High Court passed last year.”
However, the Niko representatives were not available for comments on Thursday. In the past, the
company has denied allegations it had acted unethically.
The case against Khaleda, she is the leader of the opposition now. She brought by the army-backed
temporary government, which took charge in 2007 and started a campaign against corruption. She
under arrested for nearly a year along with her rival and current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
over accusations ranging from corruption to abuse of power. |

| Global crises due to sea grass worldwide |
| |
Sydney: According to report rising loss of sea grass in the world’s oceans is becoming danger for the
survival of marine life, commercial fisheries and the fight against climate change. It discloses a major
crisis in coastal ecosystems. A survey reveals the sea grass can absorb large amounts of planet
warming carbon dioxide. In 1879, the disappeared sea grass mounted to 29 percent and it is increasing.
According to this study the sea grass are flowering plants found in deep waters, which are vanishing at
the rate of about 110 sq km(42 sq miles) a year since 1980. A study by Australian and American
scientists reveals that found sea grass grazing land were among the most in danger ecosystems on
earth" due to population growth, enlargement, climate change and ecological deprivation.
Another report said there were only about 177,000 sq km left internationally, “Sea grass field are
depressingly affected by impacts accruing from the billion or more people who live within 50 km (30
miles) of them.” The study said the loss of sea grass was similar to losses in coral reefs, tropical rain
forests, and mangroves. “Sea grasses are lookout of change" and the loss of sea grass was sign of a
failing worldwide marine ecosystem. “Rising sea grass loss reveals a major global environmental
crisis in coastal ecosystems.”
Sea grasses are the only flowering plants that can live entirely in water because they mostly related to
lilies, and are very different to seaweeds, which are algae. It is predictable that 70 % of all sea life in
the ocean is directly reliant upon sea grass, according to US-based Sea grass Recovery. (The source
www.seagrassrecovery.com)
The study said Sea grass meadows make available important ecosystem services. Sea grass beds
believed to rival rice paddies in their photosynthetic output or the capacity to take out greenhouse gas
CO2 and change it into oxygen and stored carbon matter. , refer to an estimated US $1.9 trillion a year
in nutrient cycling, development of coral reef fish output, habitats for thousands of fish, bird and
invertebrate species and a major food source for in danger of extinction dugong and turtles. Sea grass
Recovery says One acre of sea grass can catch away nearly 8 metric tones of carbon per year, which
equals the CO2 release from a car wandering, more than 3,500 miles (5,600 kilo-meter’s ) The study
assumed, “Sea grass losses decrease primary production, carbon sequestration, and nutrient cycling in
the coastal zone. If the current rate of sea grass loss is sustained or continues to accelerate, the
ecological losses will also increase, causing even greater ill-afforded economic losses.” The study said
more than 51,000 sq km of grass had been lost in the past 127 years, with largest losses 35 percent,
occurring after 1980. |

| European Union set up boarder check on imports |
| |
Brussels: The bloc’s executives said that the European Union keeps eye on imports such
as chilli peppers, basmati rice from India and Pakistan and tomatoes from Turkey in a bid
to keep EU consumers from food poisoning and cancer. Commission officials said that
the European Commission approved new rules cooperative member states to limit the
ways in which shipments of suspect foods enter Europe and to carry out regular chemical
analyses of the shipments.
The EU's list of suspected products includes basmati rice from India and Pakistan, which
will tested for carcinogenic aflatoxins. Half of all Pakistani basmati shipments and one in
10 of Indian ones will have to go through chemical tests. Peanuts from Argentina, Brazil,
Ghana, and India will also test for aflatoxins. Whereas chilli peppers and powder from
around the world will test for Sudan dyes, which have linked to cancer. Moreover,
tomatoes, peppers, courgettes, and pears from Turkey will all have to test for pesticides
and as will bananas and melons from the Dominican Republic and beans and aubergines
from Thailand. The EU’s efforts to protect their citizens from number of foods and drink
scares in recent years by introducing the new rules. The commission officials said that at
the end of January the list would revise when the new rules come into force. The list will
update with time to time. Therefore, the product added and deleted from the list as
required. |

| The French workers lock up their executives |
| |
During the country's most horrible depression in decades, the auto and auto parts
industries have been mainly hard hit by cutbacks and a reaction by French workers.
French factory workers heated over layoffs and cost cuts locked up their bosses at a
Michelin exhaust plant and a US-owned cigarette-paper mill in a new outbreak of boss
napping.
Workers gave threat to blow up their workplaces to make them heard around France due
to which new seizures of executives this week come on their heels. 50 workers locked up
four managers and the director in Moniteau-les-Mines in eastern France at Michelin’s.
Michelin spokes woman Fabienne de Brebisson said that the managers were release early
Wednesday after regional officials offered to reconcile. She said as tensions worn out,
workers caused significant break to an administrative building, breaking windows, and
damaging bathrooms. The incident comes in the middle of tensions and discussions over
Michelin's plans, announced last month, to decrease French staff by more than 1,000.
Unions are gnashing their teeth over a sanction for a worker punished for refusing to use
machinery they were untrained. Patrick Duvert of the CGT union said the penalty was a
symbol of rising pressure by management. |

| Princess of Saudi granted refuge in Britain |
| |
London: A newspaper report said on Monday that a Saudi princess who fell pregnant
during an affair with a British man has granted refuge here after she claimed, she could
face the death punishment if she went home. She was married to the Saudi royal family.
She told the judge her adultery made her liable to death by stoning in Saudi Arabia. A
spokesperson for the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in London was unavailable. A
spokes-woman for the Home Office in London declared unwillingness to verify the
report, saying it did not remark on individual cases. According to the newspaper, the
princess who granted secrecy by the court is one of a little number of citizens of Saudi
Arabia who claim refuge in Britain but whose cases has not frankly approved by either
government. Acknowledgment by the British government would be view, as criticism of
human rights in Saudi Arabia, which would humiliate both sides.
The princess allegedly met her English boyfriend, who is non-Muslim, during a visit to
London. She became pregnant in the following year and came back to Britain to have the
baby in secret. She has not contacted by her family and she told the court that if she goes
back to home, then both would be punish under Sharia law (flogging and stoning to
death). |

| Barack Obama’s plans to close Guantanamo Bay prison camp |
| |
President of United States of America Barack Obama plans to close the Guantanamo Bay
prison camp. In this week, it ran into trouble when his own Democrats in the Senate
joined opposition Republicans in blocking money to meet one of his top campaign vows.
On Wednesday the Senate followed the lead of the lower House of Representative by
voting 90-6 to pull the 80 million older request to close the contentious capability from
spending legislation for the wars in IRAQ and Afghanistan. The White House first offer
the plan for closing the facility insisted by the Congress. Nevertheless, in the measure the
prevention on transferring Guantanamo detainees to US soil. A step that could be
demoralizes Obama's effort to influence other countries to accept some of the 240 patient
on the US Navy base in Cuba. Democratic objections could intimidate Obama's order,
which he signed two days after taking office, to close the prison by January. The
Democrats feared a reaction from voters who look upon them as softer than their
Republican opponents do when it comes to national security. The Senator Harry Reid,
leader of the centre-left Democrats in the upper chamber said, “Democrats under no
circumstances will move forward without a comprehensive, responsible plan from the
president. We will never allow terrorists to be released into the United States.” The
confrontation faced by Obama within his own administration. The director of the Federal
Bureau of Investigation, Robert Mueller said, “A House committee that he shares some
of the concerns about relocating some detainees to the United States.” Mueller said that
FBI would be worried about the prospect that individuals who may have supported
terrorism could provide financial support, radicalize others towards violent extremism, or
even undertake attacks. He further added, “All of those are relevant concerns, even
imprisoned detainees could pose a threat and noting that gang leaders often remain
capable of running their organization while locked up.”
The White House said that the President intends to explain limitation for the difficult
decisions that must make to close the prison. Robert Gibbs the Presidential spokesperson
acknowledged that lawmakers are justified in opposing the funding until the
administration outlines a plan. Gibbs further added, “We've made some hasty decisions
that are now going to take some time to unwind. And closing Guantanamo Bay
obviously, is one of those decisions.” On January 22 one of the first act s as President
,Obama signed the executive order designed to show he was serious about reversing some
of former president George W Bush controversial polices and restoring America’s moral
standing on human rights. For closing Guantanamo Obama still intends to meet the
January timeframe. Gibbs said "We know that the existence of Guantanamo Bay has
become a rallying cry for the very same people that seek to do us harm and the president
was determined and is determined to ensure that that's no longer a symbol that rallies
those that hope to do us harm in future.”
Michelle Flournoy, the Pentagon's top official for policy said, “When we are asking allies
to do their fair share in dealing with this challenge we have to do our fair share.” Obama
has been looking for help from US associates to close the facility by taking some of the
prisoner, but so far, only two men have transferred since Obama took office the one to
Britain and another to France. Some Republicans who completely opposed closing camp
and they argued it is a state of the art prison facility, which is the safest place to keep the
detainees, and point out that alleged abuses are things of past. Senator James Inhofe said,
"The idea of giving up that resource is just ludicrous.” Obama's executive orders
established a task force to sort out how to close Guantanamo. The task force is due to
submit a report by July. Obama will be seeking to keep up public support by explaining
the complexities of the problem. Mueller was asked during his testimony whether he had
a solution to Guantanamo. "I don't," he replied. "It's a very difficult issue, and people are
honestly wrestling with what the best resolution is.” |

| The political funding scandal of Japanese businessman |
| |
Tokyo: On Friday, the Tokyo court gave a 16-month suspended jail term to an earlier
construction company boss over a political funding scandal that touched the trade
minister and last opposition leader. The Tokyo District Court ruled that Mikio
Kunisawa, former president of Nishimatsu Construction Co, had illegally donated five
million yen (53,000 dollars) in 2006 to then opposition chief Ichiro Ozawa's political
group. The illicit corporate funds, which channeled through fake groups, had projected
to develop relations with an assistant of Ozawa and land contracts for public works
projects, presiding judge Masataka Yamaguchi said. Kunisawa, 70, had admitted
ordering his firm to make the donations and to illegitimately bringing in undocumented
funds from abroad. The scandal rocked Japanese politics in an election year when the
opposition hopes to fall over Prime Minister Taro Aso's Liberal Democratic Party
(LDP), which has ruled Japan almost without break for more than half a century. The
court also said that the Kunisawa offered 3.4 million yen to a group linked to Minister of
Economy, Trade, and Industry Toshihiro Nikai by buying tickets through a dummy
entity for a fund-raising occasion. Kunisawa “approved plans for covert political
donations as a company president, thereby evading laws which assure openness and
fairness of political activities” Yamaguchi said. Ozawa stepped down as leader of
Japan's main opposition Democratic Party of Japan in May after his top assistant accuse
for taking illicit donations from Nishimatsu. Nikai said on Friday that he was not
involved in any doubtful donations. Ozawa has also insist he did nothing wrong and
neither politician has impeached. |

| Exxon first big investment in biofuels |

Houston: The Exxon Mobil Corp said that it is the first main investment in greenhouse-gas
reducing biofuels in a $600 million partnership with Biotech Company Synthetic Genomics
Inc to develop transportation fuels from algae. In recent years the record-breaking profits the
oil and gas giant has discriminated by environmental groups, members of Congress and even
shareholders for not spending sufficient to discover another energy alternatives. However,
the company’s requirement was finding the biofuels source. It said that Photosynthetic algae
appear to be a viable, long-term candidate. If the treaty successful and pumping algae-based
gasoline at Exxon service stations is, still several years away and will mean additional,
multibillion-dollar investments for mass production. Emil Jacobs, a vice president at Exxon
Mobil Research and Engineering Co, said in an interview with The Associated Press “This is
not going to be easy, and there are no guarantees of success.” Jacobs further added that “ the
project involves three critical steps: identifying algae strains that can produce suitable types
of oil quickly and at low costs, determining the best way to grow the algae and developing
systems to harvest enough for commercial purposes.” |

such economic damage to Europe's industrial base.”
Slovakia-based Novacke chemicke zavody and 1.garantovana got the largest individual

| The role of KMEP in carbon storage |
| |
Houston (Reuters) – Richard D. Kinder Chairman and CEO of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP said
on Tuesday that the U.S. government resolves the issue that who is responsible for the leakage of gas
unless immense pipeline would not allow in the market to store greenhouse gases in underground
reservoirs. The company headquarters in Houston, Texas. They operate petroleum product natural gas
and carbon dioxide pipelines related storage facilities. Kinder Morgan owns or operates more than
35,000 miles of pipelines and 170 terminals in North America.
KMEP is the largest U.S. pipeline network and can easily build more pipelines to allow plants, refineries
and industrial effortlessness to pipe captured emissions into underground storage. Kinder said that "I
would be remiss and probably hung out to dry if I said I'm taking on that," He further added, "This is a
plaintiff lawyer's dream." Carbon appropriation is important elements in the U.S.President Barak
Obama’s plan that to set limits on cabondioxide emissions. However, it is difficult to control the
emissions from the massive industrial services. Submission of requisition the carbon without legal
guarantee will open companies to impel of legal responsibility. The carbon dioxide emissions can be
store in salt caverns in Louisiana and Texas.
Kinder said that the U.S. companies must underwrite companies sued for environmental violations if the
carbon dioxide bubbles damage the surface. Kinder Morgan is not willing to sign up the agreement with
U.S. government that it will stay evermore in the salt dome in Louisiana. If does not than just come back
and see Kinder Morgan and we will make you good for it. He further added, "We're not going to do that,
and no right-thinking person would."
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency anticipated that to settle carbon dioxide confiscation rule
that will concentrate on liability issues. Devoid of new accord, they promote carbon technology. Now
they are encouraging solar and wind power. According to U.S. government record global emanation of
carbon dioxide strike 40.4 billion tones by 2030 and increase from 29 billion tones in 2006. To keep
away from heat waves and severe drought many scientists said emissions of green house gases must be
control by 80% or more by 2050.
The carbon storage process started in 1996 in Norway in porous rocks beneath seabed. The operator
State oil Hydro ASA stores some 10 million tones of carbon dioxide. The oil-rich Canadian province of
Alberta set $ 2.04 billion for carbon capture and storage program. The ocean storage of carbon is not
good for environment. The large concentration of CO2 kills ocean creatures. However, the other main
problem is dissolved CO2 will equilibrate with atmosphere so the storage will be not permanent. The
CO2 reacts with the water to form carbonic acid (H2CO3) which increases the acidity of water. The CO2
injected into the ground in United States to help energy companies to recover more oil and natural gas
and this process called enhanced oil recovery. (EOR) Enhanced oil recovery also called improved oil
recovery or tertiary recovery. The Kinder Morgan’s Cortez pipeline moves 1.3 billion cubic feet per day
of carbon dioxide through 13000-mile pipeline network from Colorado to Texas where to promote oil
output from older fields in the Permian Basin. |

| “Smokers café” lighting up people’s health in Japan |
| |
Japan one the biggest growing economies has now opened smokers-only cafes. Mostly
Japan is consider as a country that banned smoking from public places, including many
city streets, but on company has given refuge to the decrease ranks of tobacco addicts.
A lot of cigarette smoke spread swiftly through the ‘ Café Tobacco’ in the middle of
Tokyo, which are surrounded by office workers and shoppers looking to take a quick
puff, a habit that is increasingly making a displeased reaction in a country as a smokers
paradise.
Tadashi Horiguchi said, “Nowadays smoking is measured an evil, who open its second
smokers-only café in Tokyo and hopes to grow business. He is a board of the coffee
shop operator Towa Food Service Co. Tadashi Horiguchi said, "We want to provide a
fertile land in desert for smokers.” He said air purifiers overhead sucked up clouds of
bluish smoke from the packed cafe in Shimbashi, a bar-lined city district known as
“salary man town.” According to the manager Kazuhiro Kawano the red sign with a
picture of a smoking cigarette drew more customers about 600 a day a 24-year-old
property salesman, Koki Takeda said he was nicely astonished when he first saw the
'smokers only' sign outside, Inhaling from his cigarette and sipping an iced coffee.
Kawano said between drags from his cigarette, coming to the smokers-only cafe takes
the embarrassment out of lighting up, “I thought it's great. Starbucks bans smoking, and
many others coffee shops are non-smoking, or they have a restricted number of
smoking seats are often full.” He said surrounded by other smokers “You don't have to
feel guilty here,” all of them aged over 20 as predetermined by a sign outside. Not
everyone is as excited about the new tobacco-friendly cafes. Not everyone is as excited
about the new tobacco-friendly cafe, a health ministry official said, “Tobacco contains
poisonous substances and increases health risks.” He told AFP “the ministry has power
over the marketing strategies of entity businesses we do not consider it positively when
smoking places propagate.”
The cigarette was once everywhere but many campaigners say much remains done to
trample out the cancer-causing routine, as the Official anti-smoking policies have
compact smoking rates in Japan according to Japan Tobacco former government
monopoly. Japan smoking rate is on the turn down but still higher than in other
developed countries, with some 40 percent of men and 13 percent of women smoking
but there is no punishment for disobedience. Japan government has to pass more wide
scale bans Instead many local governments and institutions have taken anti-smoking
actions themselves. Central Tokyo districts have forbidden or strongly dejected
smoking on the streets apart from chosen areas. Due to the negligence of the health
ministry campaigners, still have smoking sections. Many bars, cafes and restaurants,
smoking has been forbidden in most Tokyo taxis last year and in railway stations as of
previous this year
Bungaku Watanabe, of the non-profit Tobacco Problems Information Centre, said,
“People smoke because ashtrays are there. Their availability does harm to smokers who
actually want to quit smoking.” He expressed disagreement with high smoking in
Japan. Moreover, blames the government, which still owns the Japan’s half Tobacco
that 100 brand on the market. Japanese law still specify the aim of a "healthy
development" of the tobacco industry to produce income and for steady tax profits - a
position Watanabe said disagree with the World Health Organization policy and is out
of step with the public health policies of most other industrialized countries. Japan
Tobacco campaigns for “coexistence between smokers and non-smokers in public
spaces” and has used at public events a so-called “SmoCar “camper truck prepared with
air-purifiers and a deodorizer, to let people smoke. Total cigarette sales cut down five
percent in Japan in the last financial year to March, but still came to 3.73 trillion yen,
according to data from the private Tobacco Institute of Japan. Cigarettes now carry
warning labels, but they stay much cheaper in Japan than in most other developed
countries, with a pack of 20 cigarettes selling for about three dollars. |

| Women are abused in China coming from North Korea |
| |
Washington Post – SEOUL (South Korea capital and largest city), the convention prepare on both sides of
borders for the North Korean women who run off to China. The North Korea considers them criminal for
leaving. The China snub to recognize them as refugees, have send to interrogation, labor, and torture them.
These women sold to Chinese men by brokers and living in as a stateless limbo.
North Korea former actress Bang Mi Sun lived the worst of both worlds. In 2002 after crossing China, she
sold into marriage to three men and separated from her two children. She gets rid from all the three. When she
ran for the third time, Chinese police arrested her and sent her back to North Korea, where a police beating
mangled her left leg. Permanently mutilate, she sent to a labor camp. Bang said, "I had to live the life of an
animal." In 2004, she ran the North for second time and found her way to South Korea. She said, "If I had a
chance to meet with President Obama, I would first like to tell him how North Korean women are being sold
like livestock in China and second that North Korean labor camps are hell on earth."
The North Korean women abuses home and abroad who seek refugee in China were a story that American TV
reporters Laura Ling and Euna Lee punished for 12 years in a North Korean labor camp when she was
working on the boarder area. However, the reality not disclosed of arrest. However, the court of North Korea
convicted them of entering illegally in the country.
According to the research of Lee-young, a Seoul based human rights researcher. Now in China forced
marriages, abiding threats of deportation and a life without citizenship have become custom for female traitor
according to “Lives for Sale”. The U.S. Committee (non-profit group in Washington) published her work for
Human Rights in North Korea.
The report conducted by the social sciences research that the most North Korean women defectors are belongs
to working-class farm backgrounds. The main reason of the migration is hunger and poverty not political
oppression. The recent report stated that approximately 300,000 North Korean are living in China without
legal identification. Researcher has found that in 8 out of 10 are women. The interview conducted Lee Haeyoung’s
between 2004 and 2006, covered in a nuanced portrait the life of North women in China. Lee said,
“Chinese men in the three major provinces closest to North Korea are desperate for women and they are
willing to pay for them.” She added, many of these men are poor, and they fall into debt to buy a wife, North
Korean women usually end up working for years to help pay off the debt."
Lee highlight that the life of defectors are much, much better in China than in North Korea. If the women live,
with their husband and children, they are more secure and have much food but they are bothering by Chinese
police. According to the ‘Lives for Sale’, the North Korean women living in marriages in rural China are
protected by villagers. Who know how to deal with the local authorities, and they turn a blind eye to these
people unless they cause trouble,” Lee further said “their irregular status also makes life difficult for their
children; the law guarantees that children fathered by Chinese men are citizens of China. However, Lee found
that only about a third of the children born to the women she interviewed had residency papers. Without the
papers, it is difficult for them to attend school, or if they do go to school, to get textbooks.”
Kim Young Ae came to China from North Korea in 1997 to search job as a nanny. She said she had cross the
boarder by a guide but later on, she turned out to be a trafficker. She further said, "The trip was well
organized, and there was a truck waiting for me in China that took me to a family that bought me for their
son." She spent 8 years in China with three husbands before get a way to South Korea. Both Kim and Bang
traveled recently to Washington, where they told their stories to members of Congress and gave interviews to
the media.
"My parents raised me with the idea that there is only one, long-lasting marriage," Kim said. "I never
imagined, even in my wildest dreams, that I would be married three times before the age of 30. With my first
so-called husband, I became pregnant within a week." She said the first child in China drowned in a stream at
age 2. She ran from her first and second husband but she had caught both times by traffickers and sold to the
third person from whom she had son. Kim said, “My parents raised me with the idea that there is only one,
long-lasting marriage, I never imagined, even in my wildest dreams, that I would be married three times
before the age of 30. With my first so-called husband, I became pregnant within a week.” Kim entered in
South Korea in 2007 but had to leave her Chinese-born son behind. She said, "My son is still in China, and his
Chinese family is not letting me see him or allowing him to come to South Korea."
The Committee for Human Rights in North Korea said, “The lives of defectors in China -- and the status of
their children -- could be stabilized if China would honor the 1951 Refugee Convention, to which it is a
party.”
All the defecators sent back to North Korea who involve in some criminal activities. From the office of the
U.N. High Commissioner for refugees, make a claim with the representative. Most defectors approach the
UNHCR. Defectors who approach the UNHCR office in Beijing sometimes arrested. The agency barred from
the areas where there are refugees.
State Department report on human rights states that in the run-up to last year's Olympics, China increased its
efforts to find and deport North Korean refugees, including women who had been victims of trafficking.
N. Korean Women Who Flee to China Suffer in Stateless Limbo
By Blaine Harden
Washington Post Foreign Service
Wednesday, June 10, 2009
SEOUL -- For North Korean women who run off to China, rules are rigged on both sides of the border.
North Korea regards them as criminals for leaving. China refuses to recognize them as refugees, sending
many back to face interrogation, hard labor and sometimes torture. Others stay on in stateless limbo, sold by
brokers to Chinese men in need of fertile women and live-in labor.
Bang Mi Sun, a former actress in North Korea, lived the worst of both worlds. After crossing into China in
2002, she was separated from her two children and sold into marriage to three men. She managed to get away
from all three. When she ran for the third time, Chinese police arrested her and sent her back to North Korea,
where a police beating mangled her left leg. Permanently maimed, she was sent to a labor camp for
reeducation.
"I had to live the life of an animal," said Bang, who fled the North for a second time in 2004 and found her
way to South Korea. "If I had a chance to meet with President Obama, I would first like to tell him how North
Korean women are being sold like livestock in China and, second, to know that North Korean labor camps are
hell on earth."
The home-and-abroad abuse of North Korean women who seek refuge in China was a story that American TV
reporters Laura Ling and Euna Lee, who were sentenced Monday to 12 years in a North Korean labor camp,
were working on when they were detained in the border area. The circumstances of their arrest remain
unclear, though a North Korean court convicted them of entering the country illegally.
Mass flight from North Korea dates to the mid-1990s, when hundreds of thousands of North Koreans fled a
famine that killed perhaps a million people. But a recent human rights report, based on interviews in China
with 77 female defectors, details how their insecurity and statelessness can continue inside China as the price
of escaping the North.
Forced marriage, abiding threats of deportation and a life without citizenship have become the norm for most
female defectors now living in China, according to "Lives for Sale," which is based on the research of Lee
Hae-young, a Seoul-based human rights researcher. Her work funded and published by the U.S. Committee
for Human Rights in North Korea, a nonprofit group based in Washington.
The report is part of a growing body of social science research conducted inside China that shows that
North Korean defectors are mostly women from working-class and farm backgrounds who fled because of
hunger and poverty, not political oppression. Recent estimates say that as many as 300,000 North Koreans are
living in China, almost all of them without legal status. Eight out of every 10 recent defectors are women,
researchers have found.
Lee Hae-young's interviews, conducted between 2004 and 2006, paint a nuanced portrait of how women from
the North live inside China. Contrary to some reports that say they are likely to be trafficked into the sex
trade, most women are sold to farmers and laborers, she found.
"Chinese men in the three major provinces closest to North Korea are desperate for women, and they are
willing to pay for them," Lee said.
"Many of these men are poor, and they fall into debt to buy a wife," she added. "North Korean women usually
end up working for years to help pay off the debt."
Lee emphasizes that nearly all of the defectors she tracked down said the material circumstances of their lives
"are much, much better" in China than they were in North Korea. If the women stayed with their "husbands"
and bore children, they received abundant food, had secure shelter and were rarely bothered by Chinese
police.
"North Korean women living in marriages in rural China are protected by villagers who know how to deal
with the local authorities, and the local authorities turn a blind eye to these people unless they cause trouble,"
according to "Lives for Sale."
But while their stomachs may be full, Lee said, their permanent statelessness and their lack of access to
money isolates them in villages. The women she interviewed had been in China for an average of about nine
years, but more than 90 percent of them did not have residency certification or an identification card.
At any point, Lee said, complaints to the police by an angry husband or quarrelsome neighbor could lead to
the women's arrest and deportation to North Korea.
"Their irregular status also makes life difficult for their children," Lee said. The law guarantees that children
fathered by Chinese men are citizens of China. But Lee found that only about a third of the children born to
the women she interviewed had residency papers. Without the papers, it is difficult for them to attend school,
or if they do go to school, to get textbooks.
Kim Young Ae, who fled North Korea in 1997 to look for food and for a job as a nanny, said she was led
across the border by a guide who turned out to be a trafficker.
"The trip was well organized, and there was a truck waiting for me in China that took me to a family that
bought me for their son," said Kim, 38, who spent eight years in China with three "husbands" before finding
her way to South Korea.
Both Kim and Bang traveled recently to Washington, where they told their stories to members of Congress
and gave interviews to the media.
"My parents raised me with the idea that there is only one, long-lasting marriage," Kim said. "I never
imagined, even in my wildest dreams, that I would be married three times before the age of 30. With my first
so-called husband, I became pregnant within a week."
She said the first child she had in China drowned in a creek at age 2. She ran from her first and second
husbands but was caught both times by traffickers and eventually sold to a third man, with whom she had a
son.

Kim was able to enter South Korea in 2007 but had to leave her Chinese-born son behind. "My son is
still in China, and his Chinese family is not letting me see him or allowing him to come to South Korea," she
said.
The Committee for Human Rights in North Korea says the lives of defectors in China -- and the status of their
children -- could be stabilized if China would honor the 1951 Refugee Convention, to which it is a party.
China, so far, has refused to allow defectors, all of whom face criminal charges if they are sent back to North
Korea, to make a claim for asylum with representatives from the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for
Refugees. Defectors who approach the UNHCR office in Beijing are sometimes arrested. The agency is
barred from the areas where there are refugees.
In its most recent human rights report, the State Department said that in the run-up to last year's Olympics,
China increased its efforts to find and deport North Korean refugees, including women who had been victims
of trafficking. |

| Alliance of Small Island States urge to take steps for fight global warming---
UN |

United Nations (Reuters): On Friday, the G8 leaders pledge this week to limit increases in the
world’s temperature is insufficient and the small island nations that face probable disaster from
climate change. The world’s richest nations and major economies will have to take more focus
and determined steps to fight global warming, said by the Alliance of Small Island states, UNBased
group of 42 island countries. The G8 countries and another 17-country group, the Major
Economies Forum, agreed in L'Aquila, Italy, which global average temperatures should not
allowed rising more than 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 Fahrenheit) by 2050. Williams said, “Two
degrees of temperature rise is unacceptable, AOSIS If global temperatures increased that much,
many island countries -- already susceptible to storm, cyclones, and other unfavorable weather
-- could get wipe off the map by rising sea levels.” He also added, "The world has an
obligation to ensure that no island is left behind," Williams further added “ AOSIS is calling
for emanation cuts in the short and medium term that would limit the temperature rise to well
below 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees F) above pre-industrial levels.”
The U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimates that temperatures will
increase between 1.1 and 6.4 degrees Celsius (2 and 11.5 degrees F) during the 21st century,
depending on policies chosen by governments. On Thursday, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Kimoon
said, “at the L'Aquila summit that the countries represented needed to commit to more
cuts to make an upcoming U.N. climate treaty work. The deal, due to be struck at a
Copenhagen conference in December, is a successor to the Kyoto Protocol.” Ban advise the
leaders at L'Aquila to work together to set exact goals, saying rich major economies were
especially responsible because they emit more than 80% of the world's greenhouse gases.” |

| In Egypt parliament 64 seats approved for women |
| |
Both the houses of the Egyptian Parliament has approved a bill confirming 64 seats for
women for the first time despite of tremendous pressure and got mixed response of the
Muslim world.
The President Hosni Mubarak's National Democratic Party moved the bill according to
which 32 new constituencies will comprise two seats each will create for those running for
the parliament. It will only be for women. This amendment will be effective from next year.
The ruling party said that the number of seats increases in the lower house of parliament to
518 is endeavor at empower women in Egypt. They further added that the new law finally
makes possible women to compete male candidates in elections.
Majdi Radi, the representative of government said, “The legislation is a practical
implementation of President Hosni Mubarak’s election programmed and constitutional
amendments approved in 2007.” Independent MP Mohammad Al Omda said, “The term
‘women’s empowerment’ is part of a Western agenda promoted by pro-women groups,
which receive foreign funds.” He further added this law is unconstitutional, who was one of
96 deputies, who opposed the bill in the legislature, where the ruling party has a vast
majority. In 2005, very few women won the latest legislative elections. The Mubarak
encouraged using his constitutional right to appoint more women in the parliament.
Fawzia Abdul Sattar an ex-legal advisor to the legislature said, “Many countries allocate
seats in the parliament for women. This is a sort of positive discrimination.” She said, “The
quota violates the Egyptian constitution. Paragraph two of Article 62 of the constitution,
which amended in 2007, stipulates that women should get fair representation in the
parliament.”
The appearance of women is 2 % in parliament. Mr. Amr Hesham an expert at the State-run
Al Ahram Centre for Political and Strategic Studies said, “This bill exposes constitutional
inconsistency.” The constitution protects impartiality among all citizens. The amended
Article 62 endorses the right to give out seats for women in the parliament. This portion is
equivalent to a mortifying distinction for women. There is no need to change the law we
should try to change the culture of male dominated society. |

down, the G8 got no success in persuading countries like China and Italy and other
growing nations to join for a goal of splitting equally world emissions by 2050.
Among most of the progressing, rich and poor countries accepted that temperature rises
should be limited to two Celsius (3.6 Fahrenheit) – a goal that would force in limiting
down green house emissions if followed through. G8 nations set a new goal for
themselves to cut their overall emissions by 80 percent 2050. Jennifer Morgan said that
of the London-based E3G think-tank, referring to the 2 Celsius target," Enough was not
achieved...but a new guidance post was inserted.” She said the “action rather than just
dithering and avoiding decisions."
To help poor nations combat droughts, floods, heat waves and rising sea levels, the talks
on a new U.N. deal on 2020 cuts in emissions by developed nations and ways to raise
tens of billions of dollars in new funds. De Boer said he understood a negative response
by rising countries to join for the G8 Goal to share equally world emissions by 2050.
They asked for action before the rich countries come up with funding plans and try to set
goals for their own 2020 emissions cuts. He said, “It was like jumping out of a plane and
being assured that you are going to get a parachute on the way down". Moreover, failure
appeared in G8 deal to look for cuts of 80 percent by urbanized nations by 2050. A
Russian official said, the 80 percent of goal in not achievable for Russian but Canada’s
Environment Minister Jim Prentice said that the goal encourage and fit Canada’s target
of cut down emissions by 60 to 70 percent below 2006 levels up to 2080 |

L'AQUILA, Italy (Reuters) – The German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Thursday
that the world’s major economies would agree on a pact to limit global warming to less
than 2 Celsius.
Merkel said, “We will today agree on a joint document of the big economies -- the Major
Economies Forum (MEF)”. She also said that by the end of this year she expects
industrialized countries to set mid-term climate change goals. She further said that at the
meeting of the Group of twenty nations in September, she did not expect a breakthrough
on climate change. |

| Speculators concern regarding Carbon Prices |
| |
Barcelona (Reuters) –A panel of emission traders said on Friday that although untamed
instability in the emerging markets the carbon prices and the speculators who trade the
fundamental emanation authorize should stay unfettered. For EU (European Union)
prices of carbon consent traded under the 27 nation’s bloc $92 billion emanation trading
system have fluctuated a lot and by last July, it has reached to a level of 30 Euros ($42)
which is the highest in last two years.
Prices for European Union carbon permit traded under the 27-nation bloc's $92 billion
emissions trading scheme have fluctuated wildly, touching a 2-year high of 30 euros
($42) last July before dropping to record lows of 8 euros in February.
Adrien Assous chief carbon market economist at investment bank Natixix said, "It's
tempting to regulate prices, but it would be a counterproductive measure," He further said
that price floors or ceilings should be obligatory to control instability. In Barcelona, the
traders said in carbon market conference that for instability of prices we were not
blaming the speculators. In last summer many observers watched that the crude oil prices
were goes high nearly $150 barrel. They further said that volatility had the inherent part
of the energy market. All this instability is due to the insuffient regulatory framework.
All the carbon markets follow the Kyoto Protocol climate treaty 2012 expiry still
uncertain because the governments messed up to agree the new pact by the end of 2009.
The EU plan after 2020 is also unknown. Mr. Frank Rasmussen, the vice-president of
power trading at Denmark’s DONG energy said, “I think companies have to get used to
volatile carbon.” None of the emanation decline urge by carbon prices above 50 Euros
will discover.
The board agreed that it is difficult to identify the real speculator. However, it is also true
that carbon market more detained by speculators. Lance Coogan managing director at
Gemini Structured Carbon said, "It won't be a true market if you don't have speculators,"
Speculators are important to provide market liquidity. The fear that prices will go high
that causes investment in clean energy.
Assous said, "If you look at the various players in the carbon market, you'll see they're
looking at a varied range of timelines," Let suppose that utilities are hedging forward
sales by buying permits for 2011 and 2012. Now there is no one selling the maturities.
Therefore, you need someone in the middle who will take the position and overpass the
cap. |

| The Head Charged of EX-IKB Bank |
| |
IKB is a bank based in Germany. The IKB is specialized in lending to small and mediumsized
companies. In the subprime market meltdown in August 2007 it had bailed out due to
bad loses. The IKB was the first European Bank to declare financial trouble due to subprime
disaster. Former head of IKB Bank is responsible for making the financial situation worst by
giving misleading statements, German Prosecutor said on Wednesday.
In order to knock up IKB’s share price Stefan Ortseifen Stefan has hide his bank exposure to
the U.S, sub prime mortgage market. According to the prosecutors in the Western city of
Dusseldorf, the accused has a press release on July 20, 2007 in which he did not clearly
present the economic impact of the international financial market crisis on the bank and it
portrayed too positively.
The accused encourage investors to invest and continue buying IKB shares to temporary
support the share price. The bank faced insolvency even after one week of his statement thus
exposing its real exposure to the U.S. market. Ortseifen also accused for breaching of trust
over a house provided for him by the bank and buying expensive speaker system without
permission. He spent €120,000 on the renovation of a house that the bank owned, but in
which he lived. IKB Bank saved from default by giving a bailout package of several billion
Euros by the state. As it was the first German casualty of the Financial Crisis. According to
AFP, the Bank sold to U.S. based investment fund. |

| HIV test conducted of employees without their consent, Namibia |
| |
Johannesburg, 3 July 2009 (Plus News) In Namibia the hotel employer had taken their 22
hotel workers to doctor and test their blood for HIV aids without their assent.
The Oshakati Country Lodge in northern Namibia owner in February 2000 hired a doctor to
conduct HIV tests on all lodge’s employees. They deceived their employees because when
they asked about the nature of the test they told that it was general hygiene test.
The test report were displaced on notice boards in the lodge’s kitchen and reception area
according to the Linda Dumba Chikalu, the Lawyer handling the case of the AIDS Law Unit
in the Legal Association Centre (LAC) in Windhoek, the capital. The employees’ positive
HIV still not informed but only advised to visit a doctor. The lodge owner and doctor
violated the workers rights to privacy and dignity as guaranteed by the country’s
constitution. The LAC is in quest of monetary compensation for the suffering practiced by
22 employees of hotel.
The CHikalu said that she was confidant about the result of the case, which she predicted
would set an important example. “I foresee ... employers' attitudes towards employees will
change; they'll start respecting people's rights and respecting their dignity.”
In Windhoek between 20 and 30 July the case will heard by the High Court. |

| Swiss glaciers reduced by 12 % according to report |
| |
Zurich (Reuters) – A study by the Swiss University ETH on Monday that Switzerland’s
glaciers reduce in size by 12 % over the past years the reason of melting is increasing
temperatures and lighter snowfalls.
Research assistant Daniel Farinotti said at the ETH, “The last decade was worst decade that
we have had in the last 150 years. We lost a lot of water.” He said, “The trend is definitely
that glaciers are melting faster now. Since the end of the 1980s, they have lost more and
more mass more quickly.”
Farinotti said it was still too early to predict that 2009 will develop for glaciers that are the
main source of water for hydroelectric plants and important and attractive for tourist.
Everyday about 6,000 tourists visited at the Jungfraujoch glacier. Farinotti said, “This year
depends on the summer. We had a lot of snow in the winter of 2008/09. But the spring was
very warm so I doubt that this year will be a positive year for the glaciers.”
In 1999, Swiss glaciers have lost 9 cubic km of ice that was the warmest period of past 150
years. In 2003, the most dramatic decline occurred when the glaciers shrunk by 3.5 %. The
researchers are predicting that the temperature of Swiss Alps will rise in winter by 1.8
degrees Celsius and 2.7 degree Celsius in summer by 2050. |

| The European Court of Human Rights has ruled on domestic violence |
| |
The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that Turkey denied a woman her "right to
life" by failing to prevent her murder by her son-in-law. In Turkey, it occurs for the first
time that court law against a situation for deteriorating to protect someone from domestic
belligerence. The murdered woman’s daughter Nahide Opuz brought the case, she came
from the southeastern province of Diyarbakir who experienced violence from her
husband but she did not protected by the state due to prejudiced practices. She told to
police that her mother was in danger.
The European Court in Strasbourg ordered Turkey to pay compensation her more than
36,500 Euros ($ 50,670) for damages and costs. The officials said that every year dozens
of women are murdered by relatives and they called it honor killing.
Judicial compliance
Ms Opuz said to the court that along with her mother we have several times inform the
Turkish police that our lives are in danger and they should provide protection to us. They
did the same even a month before the death of her mother. During that period they have
gone through some horrible accidents like Ms Opuz ex-husband about seven times try to
harm her and tried to run them down in his car. Biased judicial compliance in Turkey has
encouraged the domestic violence.
European Court for Human Rights
According to the court her husband is given three months prison on his act of car attack
on her wife and also was fined 385 euros for wounding her. For killing of her mother in
law Ms Opuz’s ex-husband was sentenced to life in prison. By adopting the view that he
did so by protecting his family honor he was released pending on appeal.
It was found by the court the violation of Article 2 of European Convention on Human
Rights, ‘The Right of Life’ occurred because the Turkish authorities did not take on time
action on the violent behavior of her son-in law behavior.
‘The Prohibition of torture and of inhuman and degrading treatment’ article 3 had also
been violated because the state has badly failed to protect Ms Opuz from her husband
violence. “The Prohibition of Discrimination”, article 14 also been violated as the
violence was gender based which is a discrimination against women. Domestic Violence
is encouraged in Turkey because of Judicial Compliance. |

| Renewable energy investments encouraged by International Energy
Agency |
| |
London (Reuters) - The chief economist of International Energy Agency said on Monday
that investment in renewable energy is decreasing and attaining oil prices that urge
“green growth” will be the objective for December’s Copenhagen conference. Due the
global recession the demand of oil decreased and diminishing the barrel, prices have
prompted many investors in the industry to level back spending and impediment projects
in both energy investment as well as in renewable projects.
The IEA’s chief economist Fathih Birol said Reuters TV at the energy conference cosponsored
by the U.N in Vienna “right financial signals” was needed from governments
to encourage renewable energy investment.” It’s up to the policymakers in Copenhagen
at the end of the year in Denmark to agree on a framework that gives the right financial
signals to investors.”
Almost 200 nations have been trying to achieve a contract to replace Kyoto Protocol on
global warming with December deadline in Copenhagen. Birol said, “a deal in
Copenhagen would give the right signals to energy investors in wind, solar
efficiency...even car manufacturers or refrigerator producers.”
Renewable fall down
Birol said in May that the IEA expectation of oil and gas upstream investment to decline
by 21% or about $100 billion as compare to 2008 because limited companies has the
credit crunch access to finance. Revenue has been restricted due to lower energy prices.
On spending, the renewable energy was decline more quickly. In May, the IEA said that
its 38 % expected in investment this year as compared to 2008.
In 2008, the oil prices hit $147 barrel but due to global depression, it falls near $32 barrel
in December. On Monday U.S., crude oil dropped more than 2 % to below $ 67 barrel.
Birol said, “High oil prices have two impacts...the higher the oil price, the more impetus
it gives to alternative technologies such as renewable energies. If today renewable energy
investment has collapsed badly, and it has, that is mainly because of the global oil crisis.”
Birol notify the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries that higher oil prices will
sluggish global economic recuperation. He said prices to should balance in favor of
investment and sustainability. He further added, “A good indication if prices are high
enough is that they then can give a certain impetus to renewable energy investment.”
Birol enlighten further that “But at the same time, if they are far too high than it is bad for
economic growth and would lessen the affordability for countries, persons and industries
to make those investments.” |

| Climate changes urge people to migrate. |
| |
BONN (Reuters) – A report published on Wednesday said millions of people leave their
homes due to the coming disasters of rising seas and drought so require a new plan for
mass migration. The U.N. University CARE International and Columbia University
published a report that funds needed to help the migrants that flee natural catastrophe will
get worse threaten to political stability. The study said, "Environmentally induced
migration and displacement has the potential to become an unprecedented phenomenon --
both in terms of scale and scope." Further detailed mentioned in report “In coming
decades, climate change will motivate or force millions of people to leave their homes in
search of viable livelihoods and safety."
The accurate numbers of migrants not identified but the International Organization for
Migrants estimated 200 of million environmentally encourage migrants by 2050. The
study marked the high exposed regions of the world like islands states Tuvalu and the
Maldives and dry regions as Sahel and in Mexico, and delta regions in Bangladesh,
Vietnam, and Egypt. It said, "In the densely populated Ganges, Mekong, and Nile River
deltas, a sea level rise of 1 meter could affect 23.5 million people and reduce the land
currently under intensive agriculture by at least 1.5 million hectares.”
The sea levels rises at least a meter this century said the climate scientists. The world
invests to help the poor communities and countries more flexible to climate change. The
report described, “These funds must be new and additional to existing commitments, such
as those for Official Development Assistance.” Further added “In Search of Shelter:
Mapping the Effects of Climate Change on Human Migration and Displacement”
If the investment in irrigation it will make farmers less dependent on rains. In addition,
investment on education will give awareness and they prepare their soil better for crops.
By mulching the soil, it preserves more moisture. The report said the migrants need new
rights from climate disasters. "Those displaced by the chronic impacts of climate change
will require permanent resettlement. At present, people who move due to gradually
worsening living conditions may be categorized as voluntary economic migrants and
denied recognition of their special protection needs."

New York (Reuters) – United Nations Secretary Ban ki-moon formed the recommended team on climate change. The group includes Mexico’s Carlos Slim, India’s Tata and other business person and executive from nongovernmental organization.
On Wednesday Lars Josefsson, the chief executive of Swedish power utility Vattenfall said to Reuters after the inaugural meeting of the group in New York. “Its goal is to be supportive for the secretary-general in his work to increase the likelihood of a deal in Copenhagen and also then afterwards the execution of the deal.”
The meeting held at the end of the year in Denmark that almost 200 countries will try to beat out a descendant treaty to the U.N. Kyoto Protocol on global warming. The rich and poor are still in stalemate on how to reduce emanation. The poor countries want the rich countries require to have reduced greenhouse gases because they are responsible to produced most of the planet-warming gases. The developing nations and China want the rich nations to reduced 40 % below 1990 levels by 2020. The rich countries so far exercises to decrease between 8 and 14 % below 1990. The Ban’s group endeavor to congregate every two months and to continue coming jointly after Copenhagen Josefsson said.
The groups also integrate Zhenrong Shi, chief executive of Chinese solar panel manufacturer Suntech Holdings Co Ltd and Leena Srivastava, the executive director of The Energy and Resources Institute, an Indian nonprofit. Tata is the chairman of Tata Motors. Billionaire Slim controls Telemex.

Brussels (Reuters) – To save the equivalent of one year electricity utilization in Ireland the European Commission and United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have set new standards for office equipments. On Wednesday the executive arm of the EU said that the new stipulations for computers and imagine equipments will come into effect from July 1 like printers and photocopiers. By using these equipments it is anticipated to save about 22 terawatt-hours (TW-h) of electricity over 4 to 6 years. The values are place under the Energy Star Certification Program for energy efficient customer products developed by the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy.
The Energy Star logo said the equipments like computers, kitchen and building appliances will save average energy 20-30%. The Commission said that the new standards for computers and imaging appliances will anticipate saving 18 TW-h and 4 TW-h correspondingly in the European Union alone for acquire over the subsequently 3 years. EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs said in the statement “The new criteria are an important contribution to reach the EU's energy efficiency targets.” The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published statement on its website that Energy Star Equipments has delivered energy and cost savings of approximately $19 billion to U.S. businesses and consumers in 2008.

| The investment of Asian Development Bank in clean energy projects |
| |
Manila (Reuters) - On Wednesday the Asian Development Bank (ADB) said that to reduce emanation of greenhouse gases and diminish the carbon growth its investment will increases in clean energy to $ 2 billion a year from 2013.
WooChong Um, director for sustainable infrastructure at ADB, said that “The bank's investments in clean energy reached about $1.6 billion in 2008, and consist of more than half of its total energy portfolio.” But some non-government organizations criticize the ADB for appealing in irrationality. Further added the Manila-based development lenders maintain to fund coal-fired power plants in Asia even as it repeats its support for clean energy.
The meeting engages in climate change present in ADB headquarters. The protesters were carrying a banner “Take me to your leaders” and some of them wearing alien’s costumes. They insist the Philippines and other Asian nations to implement actions to fight global warming.
Renato Redentor Constantino, the head of the NGO Forum on the ADB said “It's hypocritical of the bank to sound the alarm on the climate crisis and at the same time fund the problem.” But the bank officials deny and said the ADB only support the projects that use coal or other fossils fuels.
WooChong Um, director for sustainable infrastructure at ADB said “In China and India, we don't support anything that is less than super critical.” Indicate to coal-fired power projects having at least 45 % effectiveness versus the traditional use of crushed coal which convert to only 30 % efficiency. He said “So they get to use less coal for the same amount of energy.” The energy require among developing nations cannot be completely met by means of renewable energy at current.
The ADB granted $ 200 million loan last year to a U.S.-based unit AES Corporation in the Philippine. The ADB said in a statement “its spending on clean energy projects was part of an energy efficiency initiative adopted four years ago when it set a target of $1 billion in annual investments.” ADB President Haruhiko Kuroda told a news conference” While $2 billion annually is a significant commitment, this represents only a fraction of the region's financing needs in the area of clean energy," "But we expect that this contribution will catalyze additional resources from the private sector carbon markets and other sources.” The Asia responsible as a third one for global greenhouse gases emanation. Kuroda said “Unless urgent measures are taken to alter development patterns, the region's share could easily increase to 40 percent or higher by 2030.”
The bank said it they funded wind power projects in China and India, a biomass power facility in Thailand, hydropower initiatives in Bhutan, China and Vietnam, and a shift to energy-efficient lighting for low-income Philippine homes.
The ADB is almost projects to advance and increase energy-efficient accumulation transport systems, with such schemes expected to slash Asia's fast-growing energy requirement and spick and span its dependence on expensive fuel imports.

| Global warming as alarming as predict |
| |
Washington (Reuters) – The scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) forecast that global warming is effects this century as extreme as estimated just six years ago. They found that Earth’s center surface temperature could rise 9.3 degree F (5.2 degrees C) by 2100 compared to a 2003 study that anticipated median temperature increases of 4.3 degree F (2.4 degrees C). In the American Meteorological Society’s Journal of Climate published that the difference was due to better modeling and data. The scientists said in a statement the earlier climate warming covered by global cooling effect of 20-century volcanoes. The International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes that natural phenomena like solar variation and volcanoes produced warming in the pre-industrial times. Increasing global temperature will affect sea levels to rise. It will change the amount and pattern of precipitation including increasing of subtropical deserts. The continuing retreat of glaciers, permafrost (frozen land) and sea ice expected, with which affect the Arctic region.
The warming can increase by emanation of black dust by volcanoes. The MIT team works on economic activity and climate process to take into account by using computer imitation. This dramatic warming will take place “without rapid and massive action.”
The result looks much worse if we don not stop climate change if we consider earlier polices. However, if we take the immediate steps and make polices better than we can control the greenhouse gas emissions. The co-author Ronald Prinn said that without accomplishment “there is significantly more risk than we previously estimated. This increases urgency for significant policy action.”
In the House Energy and Commerce Committee was discuss that the U.S. President Barack Obama announced the plan to set national emission standards for cars and trucks to reduce the climate warming pollution and as a bill to curb greenhouse gases to institute a cap-and-trade system.
The International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes that natural phenomena like solar variation and volcanoes produced warming in the pre-industrial times. Increasing global temperature will affect sea levels to rise.
It has discussed and still in a process of continuous discussion among the public and political communities to make a strategy to tackle global warming. Because of continuous efforts now, the available options are mitigation that helps to cut off further emission.
The next strategy is of adaption means to reduces the harms by warming. Geoengineering is the important one. It focuses on how to reverse the global warming. Many governments have already taken some serious steps reduce the emission and control the global warming by signing different agreements like Kyoto Protocol.
The world’s international agreement on reducing greenhouse gas emission is the Kyoto Protocol. The Protocol covers more than 160 countries and over 55 % of global greenhouse gas emissions. Only two countries the United States and Kazakhstan have not ratified the treaty. The United Nations is the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases. The Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012. UN key meeting will now held in December 2009 at Copenhagen. It is true that global warming is already occurring and affecting the way we live, we can prevent global temperatures from reaching dangerous levels if we take steps now to begin dramatically reducing our carbon emissions. If we do not begin to shift to clean energy, the heat waves and hurricanes that we have already suffered through will worsen. Thankfully, we have all the tools necessary to curb our emissions of greenhouse gases - tools like clean energy, energy efficiency, and cars that go farther on a gallon of gas.

| Melting of ice increase sea levels: report |
| |
Singapore (Reuters) – Sea levels are going above by 2100 according to the U.N. The increase of sea levels is due to the melting of ice from Antarctica and Greenland. The Australian report said that how much sea levels more rise it is doubtful. The U.N. climate panel said sea level may rise by 18-59 cm (7-24 inches). The 20 cm rise is possible if the polar ice sheets neglected ever greater amounts of ice into the ocean. Ice loss rise the sea level above guesstimate mentioned in report. The evaluation was based on scientific knowledge up to 2005.
The report released on Friday said, “There is now emerging evidence that sea level rise by 2100 might exceed this.” In another report said by the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Center in Hobart, Tasmania, “Although it is unlikely that total sea level rise by 2100 will be as high as 2 meters, the probable upper limit of a contribution from ice sheets remains uncertain.”
The rise of just 1 meter will affect millions along Bangladesh low-lying coast to move inland and generate mass relocation in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. The important cities around the globe which exposed and situated near coastal areas should need safe and secure costal defenses because they are at high risk.
Allison, leader of the Australian Antarctic Division's ice, ocean, atmosphere and climate program “Some of the large glaciers in West Antarctica have sped up and they are pushing more ice out into the ocean." Ian Allison, one of the report's authors, said in an online briefing on Friday “the ice that's being lost is Antarctica is being lost not by surface melt. The continent is very cold. But it's being lost by increasing discharge from glaciers.” In Greenland the same was also happening, increased melting of ice near the coast. In Greenland the same was happening increased melting of ice near coast.

| Women rights in Iran |
| |
Tehran (Reuters) – Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Friday’s election gives new hope to end institutionalized unfairness against women in Iran. On Friday, the position of women has become a major issue during campaigning for Iran's presidential vote. Moderated's slogan is of political and social change while the opponents are seeking another four year term.
The two pro-reform candidates former Prime Minister Mirhossein Mousavi and cleric Mehdi Karoubi said, “They would seek to enhance the role of women in the conservative Islamic state if they were elected president.” Sussan Tahmasebi the activist rights said, "Whoever comes to power has to respond to the demands of the women's rights movement, and we are no longer invisible." The supporter said that Iranian women are second-class citizens in divorce, inheritance, child custody, legal matters and other aspects of life.
The Tahmasebi said, “Under Ahmadinejad, there was an attempt to push women back into the private sphere and promote them as mothers and wives.” Iran said women are treating better here than in the west they are usually sex symbols in west. An Iranian woman holds most jobs contrasting in Saudi Arabia across the Gulf, they can vote and oblige.
In 2006 election, most of the activist had taken in custody when they collect one million signatures on a petition demanding greater women rights. Several of them released after few days or weeks. Western diplomats said these types of arrests from part of border were showing to oppose Ahmadinejad and in response to outer stress on Tehran over its nuclear program. The leading activist Parvin Ardalan said, "Even during the election time are we under pressure."
HIJAB is not compulsory
Although to the economic suffering including high inflation and unemployment, the election campaign conquered both Karoubi and Mousavi addressed women’s situation. Tahmasebi said, "We have been able to penetrate the discourse of the election with our issues, I think it is a very hopeful sign." Karoubi, seen the three opponents of Ahmadinejad said that he envisions having two or three female ministers in government. The moral codes governing women’s dress to cover their hair and the shape of their bodies. These moral codes more strict after Ahmadinejad come in power in 2005 assured to restore Islamic revolution values.
At the same news conference, a female former MP who Karoubi said, he would contain in his cabinet questioned the way Iran enforces strict Islamic dress code, or "hijab," in statements unlikely to go down well within the Islamic concern. Jamileh Kadivar said hijab is not compulsory in nature it is a personal matter. She covered herself in chador from head to toe. Mousavi’s wife Zahra Rahnavard had broken Iranian politics by participating in election for her husband. She said women would manipulate more if her husband nominated. She said sorry from Ahmadinejad, who asked the academic qualifications in television discussion with Mousavi.
Ali Ansari of University of St Andrews in Scotland said, "Ahmadinejad's attacks on Mousavi's wife have gone down badly, it will be seen by many people as beneath the belt, and it shored up the women's vote."

On Friday the united Nation asked for more funds, so that countries get ready for natural disasters before they occur rather then responding to them. By taking simple steps we can reduce the deaths caused by natural disasters.
How to survive crises should be teach to people. For that about 10 % of humanitarian aid and 30% of climate change response funds should be spend on it, said by John Holmes, U.N’s emergency relief coordinator. He added further that we can’t stop the disasters but we can minimize its destruction and up to some extent can save lives of the peoples. According to Holmes at the end of a week-long U.N. by utilizing the foreign assistance we can guard the lives of the people especially in those countries which greatly exposed to natural disasters like earthquakes, cyclones and storms.
According to U.N. findings last year major destruction occurred in china. About 236000 people killed and about $181 billion in economic damage occurred due to natural disasters. The countries that are at greater risks are China and Bangladesh. Here the majority of deaths are occurred due to floods, landslides and other hazards. These disasters are expected to increase in future.
Holmes further said that Cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar and China experienced the big earthquake. By doing proper preparation we can reduce the number of casualties.
U.N. was planning to reconsider the structural reliability of all the schools and hospitals during disasters. Along with the recommended measures, some extra ordinary efforts should be made. Holmes also said that almost $3 billion should be spend a year to minimizes the disaster risks. Countries like Australia, Sweden, United States, Britain and Germany have already allocated about 10% of humanitarian aid to these efforts.
According to the U.N. officials, some basic steps can take to protect the lives of the people without spending too much. He further added that it not really require some sophisticated technology to create awareness among people of when to and how to search for shelters when water level is rising and it will not be requiring huge funds.

| The ‘truck crisis’ resolved leaving its affect on environment |
| |
The Saudi authorities imposed the strict security and identity checks on trucks. The 37 km line of trucks struck at a halt for more than a week to get through Saudi border from Ghuwaifat near Al Sila. The Saudi officials confirmed that the new practices at the border had the reason of delay. The trucks are careful unloaded and reloaded one by one as the drivers go through identity checks. Now the truck crisis settled. However, the bad affect on environment that can kill camels in the desert stay behind in the Al Ghuwaifat and Al Sila regions. The truck drivers, thousands in numbers were trap in a long row that is 30 km at one phase. The plastic bags and bottles discarded in the desert.
Al Sila warns the motorists about the unexpected crossing of camels. They found several signs on the roadside. Dr Ulrich Wernery, Scientific Director at the Central Veterinary Research Laboratory in Dubai said that hundreds of camels had killed in the UAE every year by plastic left behind in the desert.
In Al Ghuwaifat and Al Sila, the municipal cleaners had trying to collect from roadside the plastic waste from last two weeks. Several meter into the desert the plastic bags and bottles discarded by the truck drivers. Several truck drivers said, “Apart from a lack of proper sleep, the most serious problem was the lack of toilets - we had to go to the desert to relieve ourselves.”
The municipal cleaners said their duty were to clean up the roadside not to collected the waste from desert. They also said we had worked four times more in the last two weeks. One of the Bangladeshi municipal cleaner Mohammad said, “I used to clean up a two kilometers stretch [roadside] in one hour earlier. You see, now the time is 10.30 am; I started my work at 6 am here, but I haven't finished yet.” The cleaner’s works in a morning shift from 6 am to 11 am. They collected the wastage in black plastic bags and than leave, them on the roadside for collecting the cleaning company’s truck to collect it. At 11 am, the plastic bags seen on the roadside but the bottles and bags are still present in the desert. When a question asked from the cleaner about the remaining plastic bags, he said, “He was trying his best to clean up the area, but some areas were not manageable.” He said, "It may take a few days to clean it up completely.” The Gulf News encouraged by a report on camel deaths in the desert and a campaign influence to say “No to plastic bags.” A group of female Emirati students from the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) Madinat Zayed campus (a town near Al Sila) conducted an awareness drive. The name of that campaign “A desert without camels is like the earth without air.” The Young Emiratis said we could not compromise the life without camels. The student said that campaign followed by People and it has a positive affect on people and they stopped to throwing away plastic bags and bottles in the desert. Now they even collected the discarded rubbish and brought back to home. |

| Japan will be able to achieve its climate goals ------ China |
| |
Bonn (Reuters) - China’s climate ambassador Yu Qingtai said that Japan’s target to slash emanation by 15 % below 2005 levels by 2020. It is not achievable for rich countries to take their duty for climate change. On Wednesday, Yu was speaking on the sideline of U.N-led, June 1-12 climate talks in Bonn and new global climate pact at Copenhagen in December the Germany connecting 181 countries to conclude in contract. The aims of these meetings have to agree on trying to share the climate costs between developed nations called annex one.
Yu told to Reuters “In our view it would be much below what Japan as an annex one country would need to do to meet its obligations." The Prime Minister of Japan Taro Aso said on Wednesday “Japan would cut greenhouse gas emissions by 15 percent by 2020 from 2005 levels.”
Yu further added, "I do not believe it is a number that is close to what Japan needs to do, should do." "(Tokyo should) look seriously at what Japan needs to do to make a fair contribution to international cooperation to fight climate change." Yu added, "Developing countries are victims of global warming created by many years of cumulative emissions by the developed countries in their process of industrialization."

| Obama initiate new policy to secure oceans and Great lakes. |
| |
Washington (Reuters) - On Friday President Barick Obama initiate a plan to keep the oceans, U.S. Coast and Great Lakes from the threats of climate change, pollution and over fishing. He said in his statement delegate June as National Oceans Month that "The oceans are critical to supporting life, "The base of the oceanic ecosystem provides most of the oxygen we breathe, so oceans are critical to our survival."
Obama proposed a national policy to secure and restore “the health of ocean, coastal and Great lakes ecosystems and resources.” The policy led by Chief White House environmental adviser Nancy Sutley will start within 90 days.
The new policy issued by Obama is urging Congress to reduce the fossils that emit carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases which are responsible for wider climate change. Earths surface covered by 70% by oceans and it is an important source of jobs, food and energy resources. The White House said in a statement “Oceans is not only affecting climate processes, but they are also under stress from the impacts of climate change.”
Further added that other challenges which affecting climate like pollution, low coastal water quality, environment loss, fishing impacts, invasive species, dieses, rising sea levels and acidification.
The Obama step is appreciated by environmental group Oceana and hope it will bring a "unifying vision" and involved the 140 U.S. laws and 20 federal agencies in oceans management. Oceana chief executive Andy Sharpless said, "With the oceans facing the triple threats of over fishing, pollution and climate change, they need attention at the highest levels of government."

| Is it possible to develop carbon market without U.N deal? |
| |
New York (Reuters) - The rich nations should take initiative to cut down greenhouse gases by emergent carbon market. By doing so, the poor countries will entice even if the U.N climate talks are swamp down. Approximately 200 nations are trying to attain a contract to replace Kyoto Protocol on global warming at meeting in Copenhagen in December. The developing countries want industrialized countries to reduce in greenhouse gas emissions in the international contract. The industrialized nations want commitments that poor nations to take on compulsory. However, the difference of rich and poor are still there.
To eliminate the discrimination the rich countries as well as European Union and the United States take the initiative and develop carbon market outside or parallel to the U.N meeting. Fast developing nations like China will be motivated to join the market to sell emission counterbalance such as clean energy projects.
Nathaniel Keohane the director of economic policy and analysis at the Environment Defense Fund said the development would be attractive “is because countries like the United States and other countries like China, South Korea, and Mexico may very well do more on their own domestic binding agreements than in a binding international agreement. The major polluting nations have never contracted to obligatory slash in an agreement. The Kyoto Protocol pulled out by United States, didn’t need emitters like China and India the world top greenhouse gas polluters to make slash.
Financing new energy technology report by Mckinsey found this year. The effectiveness and forestry projects to control global warming possibly will take more than $260 billion a year by 2030. Keohane said an Environmental Finance conference on Thursday said, “There’s growing consensus that in order to mobilize the capital you have to bring in markets in a serious way.” In the U.S. Congress discussed that the global market accept easily the climate bill. The U.S. polluters will be permit to buy up to 1 billion tons per year of international offsets mentioned in the bill. Peter Fusaro a carbon trade expert at Global Change Associates said, “Getting everyone to agree with everything (in Copenhagen) is going to be very difficult.” Further added, “So I don't think the possibility of a market developing outside of the process is out of whack at all, I think it's very possibly an outcome."

| U.S. and EU Carbon Markets are Vital for Global carbon market |
| |
Barcelona (Reuters) – EU market members said on Friday that the connecting European Union’s emissions trading scheme with U.S. cap and trade scheme will be difficult and entail modifications on both ends. The European Union Emission Trading System (EU ETS) is the largest multi-national, emission trading scheme in the world. It is a major pillar of EU climate policy. The ETS currently covers more than 10,000 installations in the energy and industrial sectors that are collectively responsible for close to half of the EU’s emissions of CO2 and 40% of its total greenhouse gas emissions.
For the global carbon market, the concern of the EU’s scheme with United States is a vital step towards it. Moreover, it will help the real emissions slash in planet warming greenhouse gases. Cap and trade sometimes called Emission trading. It is an administrative approach used to control pollution by providing economic incentive for achieving reductions in the emissions of contaminant.Paul Kelly, head of environmental markets at JP Morgan said "The idea of a global cap and trade system ... and global carbon market compatibility is pretty far-fetched," He further explain "We will see some linking, but it'll take time." In the Global carbon markets in which emissions schemes of trading connected by 2020 by anticipate the European Union’s Commission. Moreover, the national schemes in all OECD countries by 2013 and for those to link by 2015. .
Experts said that the EU Commission’s objective is practicable if work starts now but the main problem will be arising in a commonly friendly system. David Corregidor said that “It is at least feasible but I don't know whether it is achievable," The carbon conference in Barcelona the deputy director of environmental and climate change at Spanish power utility Endesa said, "We have to work on defining the common elements of the schemes." .
In 2002, the EU ETS started and forces energy-intensive industries. They buy permits to emit greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, which produced from burning fossils fuels. Inspitr of older scheme the EU ETS compete with the United States. Emmauuel Fages analyst at orbeo, told Reuters on the outer edge of a carbon market conference in Barcelona, “The law-making is not the problem. The most time consuming thing will be setting the infrastructure, monitoring, exchange platforms and getting the contracts in place," .
Impediment.
The presence of price caps in the U.S. market but not in the European market. It will define that what sort of trading unit will used and it also disagreeing emissions in reducing targets. During 2005, the US has planned to decrease the greenhouse gases by 17% and it will decrease to 50% by 2020. The US also aims to decrease it to 83% by 2050. EU has also planed to decrease it to 21% below 2005 and up to 2050, it will decrease to 80%. However, the U.S. strategy maker have concerned that they are losing the ability to adjust the costs of its cap-and trade scheme if they together. .
Nicholas Bianco, associate at U.S. environmental think tank World Resources Institute told Reuters, "The biggest obstacle is the lack of control over costs. Once you link systems the ability to moderate prices goes out of the window," he also added that linkage is “in a sense an after thought" as strategy maker concentrate on the future system. The obstacle on the European side recently instability in the EU ETS in prices which linking in the future. EU allowances fell from 30.00 Euros in last July. In addition, its all time low is 8.05 Euros in February. The reason is to raise cash in the economic slowdown due to sell-off the industrial companies. .
Seb Walhain head of environmental markets at Fortis Netherlands said, "The (EU) carbon market is too volatile and we need trillions of dollars to pour into energy markets for them to work. It's practically a joke," He said that there should be more focus on producing more clean energy locally through government impose programs to slash real emission. Overall, the expanding local emissions markets will affect more at cutting carbon dioxide levels. Therefore, they will be more constraining than any climate change deal by world leaders in Copenhagen in December. .

| 325 million people affected by climate changes every year.
|
| |
London (Reuters) – A report published on Friday about the fast changing climate changes. The climate change kills a year about 315,000 people through hunger, sickness and weather disasters. The annual death toll is expected to rise to half, million by 2030. The Geneva-based Global Humanitarian Forum (GHF) estimated that climate change seriously affects 325 million people every year. And the number will be more than double in next 20 years of the world’s population now that is approximately 6.7 billion.
The Kofi Annan former U.N. secretary –general and GHF president mentioned in his statement that "Climate change is the greatest emerging humanitarian challenge of our time, causing suffering to hundreds of millions of people worldwide." According to the report the annually economic loses due to global warming amount over $125 billion. And that is more than the flow of relieve from rich to poor nations. It expected that it will be rise to $340 billion each year by 2030.The world’s poorest group are more affected and so far they have done least to cause the problem. .
The developing countries bear more than nine-tenths of the human and economic burden of climate change. The contribution of 50 poorest countries in heating up the planet is less than 1 percent. Annan advised governments due to meet at U.N talks Copenhagen in December to agree on an effective, fair and binding global treaty to succeed the Kyoto Protocol, the world's main mechanism for tackling global warming. Copenhagen wrote in his report that the most ambitious international agreement ever negotiated. “The alternative is mass starvation, mass migration and mass sickness." .
The study notify that the real human impact of global warming is likely to be extreme more severe than it expects because it uses conventional U.N scenarios. New scientific facts points to greater and faster climate change. One of the report focuses on 500 million people at risk because they live in poor countries most prone to droughts, floods, storms, sea-level rise and sneaking deserts. The report mentioned that Africa 15 to 20 countries are at high risk. South Asia and small islands of developing states are also at highest level of threats. .
The report published that to avoid the most horrible results of climate changes we have to level up 100 times in developing countries. An average estimated cost $32 billion annually and international funds pledge for this purpose only $4400 million for this purpose. The Barbara Stocking chief executive of Oxfam in Britain and GHF board member told that "Funding from rich countries to help the poor and vulnerable adapt to climate change is not even 1 percent of what is needed," .
In December at Copenhagen, this conspicuous injustice must be addressed.” Funding from rich countries to help the poor and vulnerable adapt to climate change is not even 1 percent of what is needed," said Barbara Stocking, chief executive of Oxfam in Britain and a GHF board member. |

| UN − CLEAN DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM
|
| |
Beijing (Reuters)- On Saturday the Senior Executive with Italian power giant said that although lots of improvements have been made but the architects of a new global climate change treaty is not reflecting it.
United Nations set up under the Kyoto protocol the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). That enables rich countries to meet their carbon targets decline by investing in clean energy projects in developing world which are settled tradable “certified emission reductions”.
The current mechanism has been capture by commercial interests and is not delivering the promised carbon emission cuts although Giuseppe Deodati, Enel's head of carbon strategy, told Reuters in Beijing that there was no reason for it to discard.
Opponents call for far-reaching changes, saying the current mechanism has hijacked by commercial interests and is not delivering the promised carbon emission cuts, but Giuseppe Deodati, Enel's head of carbon strategy, told Reuters in Beijing that there was no reason for it to ditch. He said, "There are good points to defend about the CDM market and a lot of good points to be saved".
At the end of 2012, the Kyoto Protocol will expire. By the time when the mediator meets in Copenhagen at the end of this year, they need to whip out a replacement. Deodati said that Enel has been “an early mover” in China’s CDM sector as it tries to reach its own compulsory CO2 reduction targets. The Company’s focus in China has also been on hydropower and reducing industrial gases like HFC-23. He said that China has been a critical part of Enel’s strategy to “minimize (Kyoto) compliance costs”. The problem with CDM the current government allows western countries to achieve their targets and financing obtainable during carbon trading can be improved somewhere else employed.
In January, the credits should only approve to "those projects that deliver real additional reductions and go beyond low-cost options.” The European Union’s executive arm said.
Industrial gas reducing projects to be remove from any post -2012 contract and exposed of their carbon credits.
Deodati said but in spite of the criticism, HFC 23 remains a powerful greenhouse gas. "It has yet to be decided what sort of restrictions will be applied to this kind of project but we need to bear in mind that for industrial gases like HFC 23, we have the biggest proportion of greenhouse gas abatements that have been developed so far. We shouldn't forget that."
In the development of the biggest CDM hydropower project Bingling on the upper reaches of China's Yellow River Enel was involved in this development.” A lot of concerns about the environmental sustainability (of hydropower) have been discussed, but it is also true that up to now, these initiatives have been able to bring real reductions in greenhouse gases”. Currently CDM developers are in a state of uncertainty. No one knows how much of the current trading government will survive, and how much their CERs will actually be worth after 2012. Enel's hopes are very much in line with other developers in this sector - that a predictable regulatory context will result from the negotiations,” That will make it possible for operators to make rational investment decisions.

| Pakistan: Evade Civilian loses |
| |
(New York)– Human Rights Watch said that the Pakistani Army forces and Taliban militants should take all major precautions to avoid the civilian casualties in Swat valley and adjacent areas of North West Frontier Province.
On May 7, 2009 when the Pakistani army started major military operations against Taliban Militants in Swat valley than thousands of civilians run away and leave their homes. The aim of this operation is to remove the Taliban from Swat valley and other areas of Malakand region of the PATA (Provincially Administrated Tribal Areas.)
Brad Adams said, “Beheadings and use of human shields by Taliban forces are not a blank check for the Pakistani army.”
“Winning the war, but also the peace, in Swat can only be achieved by minimizing civilian suffering.,” said by the Asia director at Human Rights Watch.
Human Rights Watch said that Taliban stopped people from leaving the town of Mingora and other areas. Taliban are effectively using civilians as shields to restrain from taking action of military. People forced to flee the fighting, that the Taliban are continuing their vigilantism and violent attacks, including killings and public beheadings, particularly in Mingora reports received Human Rights Watch.
On May 10, Human Rights Watch said that the displaced persons told us that the Taliban shot and killed Maulana Zahid Khan was the imam of central mosque at Nishat Chowk Mingora. His aim was of supplying large number of arms and lying landmines. Zahid Khan was dragged into the town square and executed when, accompanied by other local residents, he confronted the local Taliban commanders, telling them that their activities could not possibly be construed as Islamic.
Due to military’s bombardment civilian deaths and destruction of property occurred, by Human Rights Watch report. Journalists and human rights monitors are not allowed to enter in the closed military zone. It is difficult to verify this information independently. The area is under curfew for unlimited time. The local journalists have left the area. Army does not allow Pakistani reporters or foreign correspondents. Break off power and telephone links since from April 28.Not only this food shortage is also facing by the civilians.Adam said that “The United States has urged Pakistan to find a military solution to the Taliban,” “But it must also send the message that the laws of war must be followed and civilians protected.”
President Asif Ali Zardari signed on April 13 an ordinance imposing Sharia law in the Swat valley. The law effectively empowered Taliban and other groups in Swat and other areas PATA. However, on May 7 the Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani announced the end of peace deal with Taliban.Taliban have enforced their authority in Swat and adjacent areas from 2007 through summary executions, beheadings of opponents and officials. Girls’ schools have been shut down. Not allowed to women to leave their homes without male family members. Not only this, polio immunization programs halted.
Nongovernmental organizations dismissed. All stores were destroyed and films and music were banned. The Pakistani government to arrest those responsible for violations of human rights and hold them legally responsible said by Human Rights Watch.
Adams said that” The Taliban have perpetrated and continue to inflict heinous abuses upon the people of Swat and need to be held accountable, It is absolutely essential that this barbarism is halted and the rule of law reestablished in Swat and adjoining areas.”
Pakistani military in previous operations in FATA had arrested many people by using excessive use of force in operations and collective punishment of the civilian population said Human Rights Watch. No confirmed reports of such types not yet seen during current operation. Human Rights Watch urged the Pakistani military to ensure that such abuses are not repeated.
Adams said, “Pakistan has to end the cycle of bad fighting followed by making a bad peace.” Indeed, the lesson of Afghanistan is that the only way of preventing Taliban resurgence, is for the other party to ensure that its treatment of civilians is humane and respectful, that suffering is minimized rather than exacerbated, and that immediate and sustained relief provided to the displaced.
Approximately half a million people displaced in the North West Frontier Province but the number may be increase with the passage of time. Human Rights Watch contact with the government and international agencies to give the immediate and essential support to the civilian that effected from operations. Adam said, “Pakistan is facing one of the largest displacements of people seen in South Asia since the partition of India in 1947, unless this crisis is dealt with urgently and competently while minimizing the scope for corruption, the humanitarian and political crisis in the region will only worsen”

| U.S.control emanation by improving auto efficiency |
| |
Washington (Reuters)- The White House said, President Barack Obama will publicize the most belligerent proposal for increasing auto fuel economy standards and plan for regulating emissions. The U.S. passenger vehicle will require 3.5 miles per gallon i.e. 6.62 liters/ 100 km by 2016 and saving 1.8 billion barrels of oil. The Environmental Protection Agency will instruct to control tailpipe emission.
Barack Obama is exposed the proposal at 12:15 pm and this event attended Ford CEO Alan Mulally, General Motors Corp President Fritz Henderson, Toyota Motor Sales USA President Jim Lentz and Chrysler CEO Jim Nardelli, along with United Auto Workers union President Ron Gettlefinger at EDT White House event.
UAW and 10 car companies had hold the fuel efficiency program” because it provides certainty and predictability to 2016 and includes flexibilities that will significantly reduce the cost of compliance." The White House statement said. According to the officials, the aim of this proposal is to control climate-warming carbon emissions. It will fall by 900 million metric tons or more than 30 percent.
Automakers will achieve a fleet average of 35 mpg by 2020 and it will be a 40 percent increase over today’s performance. Compare to current law it will add about $600 to the price of producing vehicle due to new program the administration said.
California also supported the Obama proposal; it had required a relinquishment of right from federal environmental law to inflict its own regulation to control emissions.
Administration officials said that California’s step had accepted a proceeding from Auto Company is afraid of mélange rules of state on emissions. As one national standard of most crowded state, intend to follow the Obama proposal.

| A New Climate Treaty ------- Ban Ki-Moon |
| |
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - On Thursday U.N. secretary –General Ban Ki-moon called for “green new deal” on climate change. He urged for the final step held in Copenhagen in December.
According to the record available at the United Nations the Ban told at Johns Hopkins University in Washington. We absolutely must reach an agreement to reduce greenhouse gases and help millions of families adapt to climate change -- before our time runs out,"
Ban said that before the times out I plan to visit to the North Pole, and specially those areas where lack and competition for water threaten people’s lives and well being.
In Copenhagen in December, the United Nations is decided for a new climate pact to be agreed at a conference. The Kyoto Protocol will be succeeded due to this new agreement. It controls climate- warming greenhouse emission and expires in 2012
Ban said that, "At Copenhagen, we need to unleash green investment and jump start a lasting economic recovery, at the same time we strike a blow for climate change,"
“The World Business Summit on Climate Change” is also planned in Copenhagen on Sunday told by Marie Okabe Okabe, U.N. spokeswoman.
Ban also mentioned in Thursday speech for new collaboration between states, "focused on delivering global goods: freedom from hunger, health and education and security from terror or the threat of Armageddon".
Ban also stated that according to the prepared interpretation, United Nations is "beefing up our peace-keeping and conflict prevention efforts."

| Strategy for carbon credits. |
| |
TOKYO (Reuters)- Japan power firms paid $ 100.1 billion yen ($1 billion ) for carbon credits at the end of March 31.The yearly earning reports described incomplete details for investors that how much utilities spending to compensate their own carbon emission. One of the biggest buyers of carbon credits from outside and hope to buy more and trying to meet its voluntarily set targets. The model which is carbon free nuclear plant runs 60 percent now it will be 80 percent or more of their capacity.
In the earning statements, the carbon credit figures effective from 2008-9. It gives the investors information which is hidden that how each firm burning cheap coal. To help out Tokyo to meets its goals for retrenchment in greenhouse gas emission under the Kyoto Protocol, the Japan’sNo.1 utility, Tokyo Electric Power Co and five others spent 75.6 billion yen on credit redemption in past years. The key information for reviewing carbon credit deals that how much volume they received in CO2 for their money, it declined by all 10 companies.
The total carbon credit costs in the final year of the five –year Kyoto Pact to March 2013 will be reported by the Hokkaido Electric Power Co, (Japan’s No.7 power firm). The other three had reported their latest earnings later. The 10 utility companies as a whole bought 190 million metric tons in CO2 equivalent over 2008-2012 Kyoto period said by the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan.
Developing country like China has derived a majority of credits from investment in clean energy projects. Tokyo has sealed government-to-government deals to buy offsets from Ukraine and the Czech Republic, making it easier for Japanese companies.
Ten firms not comment on future buying plans. But three of them said buying carbon credits from these two countries was one option. But they planned if they failed to reduce the amount of carbon they emit in producing a single unit of electricity. If their efforts were not sufficient they would buy carbon credits at home or from abroad said by the power firms. Legally there are no binding reduction targets.
In March the Japan’s first Kyoto year ended, the emission of CO2 per kilowatt hour is more from 9.5 percent to 72 percent over the five year period. Certified Emission Reductions (CERS) in developing countries has spending on carbon offset, and focused on those generated from clean energy projects. Assigned Amount Units (AAUs) had bought by some firms from developed countries to cut their emission targets. Assigned Amount Units also called “hot air” units.
In 1990s in Eastern Europe, these credits were generated through economic restructuring rather than fresh investment in clean energy. The feasible amount for CO2 cut from a total 10 projects is only 5,700 metric tons per year approved by government. Carbon Counterbalance from projects at small domestic businesses is growing area for the power sector to invest in.

| Natural disaster trembled global economies |
| |
GENEVA (Reuters). On Sunday a United Nations body said that, Natural disaster intimidate to cause the extensive damage and grief in emerging economies. Because of global recession several of which are on the edge.
According to the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction, in developing countries there are about 1 billion people living in poor life condition. Several of which ignored for safety standards in recent years.
In Asia satisfactory drainage systems are the cause of floods in many cities. The ISDR said that commercial assets and infrastructure are also not safe from storms and earthquakes. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in Bahrain by introducing 200-pages report that "Disaster risk is rising in an alarming way, threatening development gains, economic stability and global security,” The Geneva-based ISDR estimated that the global economy at direct risk from floods has doubled since 1990.And 28 percent people are now more exposed to losing their homes, incomes and lives than before. It said that, "Most flood risk is concentrated in Asian countries,” approximately three quarters of those at risk of dying in floods around the world are concentrated in Bangladesh, India and China.
The report said that Thailand and Indonesia are also face considerable intimidation. Bangladesh was facing the highest transience risk from cyclones all along with China, India, the Philippines, Myanmar and Madagascar, while Ethiopia, Indonesia and India are most susceptible to deadly landslides.
China and India are mainly at risk from deaths in earthquakes along with Indonesia, El Salvador, Guatemala and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Sub-Saharan African countries were cited as having the most people and crops exposed to risks from drought. Sub- Saharan African countries people and crops are exposed to drought risks in developing countries the poorest society are safe from disasters by insurance.
1.7 million people have been killed in 23 “mega disasters” sin 1975 estimated by ISDR.As a result of global warming the foremost storms and weather-related related emergencies are expected to increase as a result of global warming. It said that "Many urban areas will also experience stress through water and energy shortages, heat and cold waves and more prevalent disease vectors,” The effect of rising oceans on Dhaka, Mumbai and Shanghai which are only 1 to 5 meters above sea level. The ISDR emphasis that it is not just geography that exposed to disasters but makes the impecunious pockets of the world. Both people and economies in poorer countries more exposed to disasters due to weak governance.
Such as, the report said that Japan and the Philippines have almost the same experience to tropical cyclones 17 times more people killed in Philippines. Cyclones of the same potency also damaged 20 times more of Madagascar’s gross domestic product (GDP) than Japan’s. |

| Bolivia’s despondent Teresa Barrio |
| |
Un official said that the landowners in Bolivia the suspected forced labour of native people are"unacceptable".The BBC's Andres Schipani reports on the controversial issue of "slavery" from the eastern province of Santa Cruz.
Teresa Barrio was born in Bolivian. She is living and working here. And she thinks that she will die here. In spite of this there is no attraction for this place for her. The old grand mother of 65 years has not much know about others but she only knows about the hard work in the fields for a very small amount of money. She is spending a very miserable life she sleeping in a mud hut, losing sight in one eye and losing five of seven children to disease. She says there is no money for her tattered skirt. Does she feel free to leave the vast farm where she has worked hard all her life? She said,” All my life I've been here and at the end of it I have nothing and have nowhere else to go," She said that her small town of 13 Guarani families all workers on the plantation near the town of Camiri in Alto Parapeti region in the eastern province of Santa Cruz. A school built but herdsman destroyed it.
Teresa's granddaughter, Deisy said that "They didn't want us to learn, they want things to be like they always have been,” Near by the destroyed school there is a replacement school which has five desks beneath a blue sheet draped from algarroba tree.
Bolivia’s government and some native groups have giving a contentious name to Teresa’s type of slavery. Some international organizations said that conditions are still similar to bonded labour. These agricultural laborer or small farmer actually the property of landowners in one of the poorest countries in South America’s. From decades the allegations of forced labour have circulated with small result.
UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, told reporters in La Paz that, “We are very scandalized by what we've seen … We have seen indigenous people, the original owners of the land, who are now in a situation of landlessness, forced labour, servitude and extreme poverty,"
Ms Tauli-Corpuz led a mission to scrutinize the condition of forced labour between 30 April and 5 May amongst the Guarani people in the eastern lowlands of Bolivia known as Chaco.
Alejandro Almaraz, Bolivia's deputy land minister said that “"This is a relationship of strong servitude that condemns these people to poverty and dependency on the landlords,"
Life of Workers
Workers daily wages are $2(ponds 1.30) and given cash and food .The people have less ability to pay off debt. Wilson Changaray, a Guarani leader, said in the dusty town of Camiri that "Some have debts owed by their fathers,"
The government’s criticisms are pessimistic strategy by "totalitarian" to take hold of land.
Eliane Capobianco of the rancher's association Fegasacruz, in the eastern city of Santa Cruz, the opposition heartland said that, “The idea that there is slavery here is absurd … Offering loans and selling food is not a debt trap but a favors because there are few banks and shops in the region,"
She adds, "The fact that many workers ask employers to be their children's godfathers is evidence of admiration not of dependency. These people are workers, not slaves,"
In 1892 the Guaranis' dilemma was multifaceted when Bolivian soldiers took away their remaining land. They were forced to work on landlord’s property. Lack of knowledge and identity documents have left later generations reliant on the ranchers
Land reform
Three years ago the Evo Morales’ elected president had offered the view for Bolivia’s native people. In January that views came closer when he changing the constitution that gives sweeping rights to Bolivia’s 36 native groups in the area of government. The new constitution will help roll back 500 years of submission of indigenous peoples.
In the Bolivian Chaco a place some Bolivians call "a land lost to God", here the repression system still common and it shows that the power of state is weak.
Ms Tauli-Corpuz said that “this situation of domination and violent rule of the landlords over the indigenous people unacceptable … we think this is a gross violation of the basic political, social, economic and cultural rights (f the Guarani)”
In March, Mr. Morales has been pushing to end this. He handed over thousands of hectares of land seized from large-scale owners to native farmers.
Teresa Barrio, the near-blind grandmother still calls herself a “slave”. And died all her family members near hers.
She said that, "The owners exploit us, they always do whatever they want,"

| Peace Challenges in Congo |
| |
According to the news from GOMA(congo) on Thursday an International mission having members of EU is forwarded to Rawanda for peace keeping efforts .Where the several people are killed during last few days. For this situation both Rawanda and Cango are putting blame on each other. The efforts are being done by Eu mission to bring face to face the president of both countries for any long run solution .Eu policy chief Mr Javier Solama a member of peace mission told that these EU efforts may help in straitening the political and economical issues of both countries, where war is fixed on common people, the victim of fear and violence of rebellions. In the present state where the differences between the presidents of both countries are again at peak, all the responsibility goes to peace makers Who do not go for any permanent solution and are keeping them on aid and humanitarian help. Which is not enduring solution for both? This has been proved through the decision of EU where fist France got agreed on sending the troops but later on the decision of German Authorities converted into an aid. According to Germany sending the further troops in the light of previous experiences will be the loss of lives of soldiers. In order to resolve the problem UN Secretary Ban Kmoori is sending an envoy to both of the countries to bring them on any platform where recently again in GOMA the rebels have started demanding new negotiation with the Government and UN. Overall the situation enlightens the cause of above said that International peace making Organizations are not as serious in this part of the world as in Others where every day they are sending their troops and military Aid for their own mutual interest. He confirmed 155 deaths and 66 injuries in this accident and still authorities are in search of further causalities. | Violence condemned, calm restored in East Johannesburg: |
| |
JOHANNESBURG: in a wave of weekend violence against immigrants around Johannesburg twelve people were killed, the police said on Sunday, with hordes of equipped youth running amok through the poor areas of South Africa’s economic capital. It was announced by the president Thabo Mbeki that a committee had set up to look into the intolerant attacks and the South African Red Cross said that it had launched a petition to help the displaced people. When asked about the troubles which gained intensity over the weekend.
Since the start of last week foreigners were aimed by mobs that were equipped with machetes and guns in several run down parts of the city in spite of appeals for peace and extensive censure from politicians .over night violence in the inner city has left 6 dead, 50 people being hospitalized and a string of shops looted and cars burnt. The majority of the immigrants who have poured in South Africa in the last few years are from the neighboring country Zimbabwe, with round about 3million that have run away from the economic downfall and the political crises in their own country. These immigrants have specially been aimed at as some local residents blame them as those responsible for crimes and unemployment. Some Zimbabwean immigrants say that they are also blamed for being behind the rise in food prices.
In the notorious Hill Brow area of inner city on Sunday, an AFP reporter saw armed police recovering the dead body of a victim. Dozens of rubber bullets were fired to spread away the gangs in that and nearby areas. Apart from establishing the committees the president also urged the police to act strictly with the crime executors. He also said that after what the country has seen in the racist apartheid regime and having at that time been support and sheltered by the neighbouring countries. The country has been disgraced by 2 weeks of anti-foreigner violence that has resulted in the killing of at least 50 people. He said on Sunday in his nationally televised speech that he had never seen such cold heartedness since the end of the apartheid and that people must see violence as an absolute disgrace. He also said that to bring the perpetrators to justice the authorities would take every possible measure. Hundreds of people have been arrested by police since the beginning of the violence on 11th may with the killing of two immigrants in Johannesburg’s Alexandra Township. The immigrants have been blamed for taking jobs and hence increasing the crime rate. There are about 5 million immigrants in South Africa and among them some 3 million are from Zimbabwe. The head of the ruling African National Congress, Jacob Zuma was met with bitterness when he spoke to a crowd east of Johannesburg Sunday. One heckler said that Zuma must tell other African leaders to keeps their people in their homes, and further threatened to destroy Zuma’s political plans and proceedings in the coming year if his demands were not acted upon. The army sent its troops to control this adverse situation on Thursday. Critics have criticized the government and have accused them for being slow in their response to the rising crisis and not helping the country with its poverty stricken condition that is largely believed to be the cause of all this bloodshed and violence.

| Shell’s Bonga offshore oil stopped by Nigeria Attack |
| |
ABUJA: The royal Dutch shell’s Bonga oilfield was attacked by the Nigerian rebels on Thursday, which resulted in the shut down of a tenth of the country’s oil produce in a rare attack on a deep water facility. The attack which was made on a key floating production storage and offloading vessel some 120km(75 miles) off the Nigeria cost caused the Anglo Dutch giant having a capacity of 220,000 barrels/day to be stopped from Bonga. The responsibility for the attacks was taken by the rebel Movement of the Niger Delta (MEND) and they also issued a warning of further attacks in the future. The group stated in an e-mail that the location on which the attack was carried out was chosen with the deliberate intention to erase the views that offshore oil exploration was beyond their reach.
After the attack was carried out the gunmen came in contact with a separate vessel for oil supply and proceeded to kidnap its US captain, Henry Babalola a Navy spokesman said. However, MEND has stated that it would release in the coming hours Captain Jack Stone of the oil services company Tidex. According to a private security contractor who is working in the oil industry the kidnapping took place off Escravos where the US energy giant Chevron has its main export terminal, and that around two dozen gunmen and three speedboats were involved in the attack. Chevron officials were not present immediately to comment on the event. The bombing of oil pipelines and the kidnappings of foreign oil workers in the world’s eight biggest oil exporter has already cut production by around a fifth in recent years helping to move the oil prices globally to record breaking highs. The attacks carried out up till now have been concentrated on the shallow creeks of the Niger Delta, the heartland of the country’s oil industry, and to counter this risk the oil companies have been focusing on offshore projects in part in an attempt to balance off this risk.
“It acts as a flow station, as a terminal. It is the heart, the hub of the field,” Precious Okolobo the spokesman for Shell said of the vessel that was effected in the attack early on Thursday morning. He also said that production was stopped by them. The already unstable and fluctuating Global market has one again been shaken up by fears of disarray in Nigeria, home to sub-Saharan African biggest oil industry. Already because of the intentional acts of destruction caused in the delta the West African nation is producing oil well below its production potential. A Nigerian navy spokesman said of a separate incident on Thursday that a security vessel had been attacked by armed youths in military fatigues who kidnapped two crew members. The bongo field of shell has helped in offsetting losses from the delta, while Chevron’s Agbami and Total’s Akpo fields are due to come on stream in this year. US crude oil prices bounced back to around $137 a barrel on Wednesday. These were pushed by the apprehensiveness that the Nigerian workers may go on a strike as discussions with the company’s management over the number of non-natives that it employs stopped midway. The oil ministry interceded late on Wednesday and said that it had convinced the firm to cut down on the no of foreign workers that it employs and that further discussions in regard to this would continue on Thursday.

| Global food crises; UN food agency urged. |
| |
TOKYO: In the light of the current circumstances regarding global food crises the UN food agency’s head has urged rich countries of the world including Japan to give precedence to aid for agriculture to solve this crisis. Japan has promised to place the food crisis on its agenda when it will host the annual summit of the group of Eight industrialized nations in July. Jacques Diouf, the director general of the united Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization stated that for solving the current food crisis it is imperative to focus on agriculture in development and assistance in Africa. According to the World bank the food prices the world over have seen a twice increase in the last three years which have resulted in riots, protests and export restrictions the world over. Also the development aid that is being given to the poor countries has fallen at a constant rate and so has the share of overseas development assistance that goes to agriculture which has fallen down from17 percent in 1980 to only three percent in 2005, Jacques Diouf said. He also said that when862 million people will not have enough food then agriculture will be given the right precedence. He also met the Prime Minister Yasou Fukuda for the purpose of discussing this issue ahead of the Tokyo International Conference on African development in Japan at the month’s end and the G8 summit.
Jacques Diouf also called for increased investments in infrastructure such as roads in rural areas, irrigation and modern storage facilities in Africa to fight against refuse and waste to enhance and improve the production output. He also said that he would work with Fukuda and other members of the group of eight industrialist nations on an action plan which will encompass the need for more seeds, fertilizer and animal feed for the current year and also for the next year’s growing season.

CAIRO: 600 asylum seekers from Eritrea have been expelled from Egypt and sent back to Eritrea in a week, security official. Human rights activists and the UN has urged Cairo to stop the deportations. Mustafa Abul Hassan the Head of Aswan office in south Egypt of the Hisham Mubarak Centre human rights association said that “some 600 asylum seekers were already deported and further 600 are expected to be deported soon” He also said that these deportees would face the risks of being tortured or arrested if they are sent back to Eritrea. An Egyptian Security official who wished his identity not to be disclosed said that 400 Eritreans were expelled on Wednesday while 200 others were sent back to their country on June 11th and some further 600 asylum seekers were to be expelled soon.
The UN high Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Arbour also expressed his concern for the deportees and said that the massive expulsions of these asylum seekers would put them in great risks in their own homeland. He said in a statement released earlier in Geneva that “people who can be in possible risks in their own home countries should not be sent back before their claims for asylums have been properly attended to.”

| UK High Court allowed maintaining the confidentiality of their services and materials. |
| |
LONDON: A British Journalist who was writing a book on a former Islamist radical Hassan Butt, a British born Muslim who has spent 10 years inside radical Islamist groups won a legal case over the confidentiality of a reporter’s contacts. London Reporter Shiv Malik was ordered to give police all his notes and his source material for his book. This ‘production order’ obtained by the Greater Manchester Police under the anti-terrorism laws, feared the Civil liberties campaigners who were of the view that in the future investigative journalism would be undermined by such orders.
The High Court judges in London said that the order should be taken into consideration again at a later date so as to set its scope and span of influence to decide what source material would fall under it. The judges were of the view that the judge at the Manchester crown court who had issued the order was entitled to do so but the provisions of the order that he made were very wide. The judges also said that a balance had to be kept between protecting the confidentiality of the reporters’ materials and the public interest while pursuing effective terrorist investigations.
Shaiv Malik said that the judges’ decision was a “victory for common sense” and that the High Court had agreed with the substance of this case that investigative journalists should be allowed to maintain confidentiality of their materials and other sources from which they derive information. He also said that he would fight against the revised order that he expected to be limited to his materials relating to his book on Hassan Butt. To him this is a partial victory as the rest of the matters have to be battled out. “At least a line has been drawn between what is to be handed over and what not”.

| Amnesty International urged to ban all forms of torture and other ill treatments. |
| |
LONDON: Rights watchdog Amnesty International has urged the next United States president to stop its on going war on terror prison camp at Guantanamo Bay and to ban all sorts of torture and to discontinue its starting of authoritarian regimes. In its annual report the Amnesty International stated that it was extremely important for USA after the very disappointing record of President’s George bush administration to prove it self as morally authoritative around the world. The annual report said that as America is one of the world’s most powerful state therefore it sets example for other governments on how to act regarding such matters. With astounding legal bewilderment, the U.S administration has continued to weaken it efforts to condemn and to stop all form of violence and torture and other ill-treatments. The report stated that what the world needs is a USA that is completely committed to the cause of human rights both in USA itself and in other countries of the world as well. The US government has been condemned on the way it treats its suspects of terrorism and has refused to state its simulated drowning technique called water boarding as torture. For the USA to become a champion of Human Rights causes and to prove its supremacy the world over as a moral authority it must either close Guantanamo bay and try the suspects of terror in federal courts or release them under the new government. Evidence obtained through oppression and all forms of torture must be stopped and completely banned to all possible ends and also the support for authoritative leaders must be called off. Also US must be ready to call off its current internationally isolated status and must work with UN Human Rights Council constructively.
Amnesty has also criticized Washington’s support for Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharaf who is a key companion of the USA on the ‘war on terror’. The ineffectiveness and the shallowness of the US administration’s call for democracy and freedom abroad was shown when it continued to support president Musharaf when he had thousands of lawyers, and human rights defenders and political activist arrested. While McCain, Clinton and Obama have all stated that they would close the Guantanamo Bay yet they have not stated what they will do with all the detainees therein. All the three candidates have discredited the use of torture yet McCain, who was tortured as the prisoner of war in Vietnam has refused in February to support the legislation that limits the type of interrogation methods that are available with the CIA. Amnesty Secretary General Irene Khan has said that “regardless of who is elected as the president of the USA, Washington must realize that Guantanamo needs to be shut as it is a “millstone around the neck of the US administration” and as such it must be closed down. The United Stated is the world super power and sets the pattern of behavior for other states of the world as well. The world needs the US to be involved in the Human Rights issues and through the UN’s Human Rights Council, and to do this the USA must send a sign that it has now changed its direction and is prepared to apply the same rules and principles on itself that it expects other to apply for themselves in regard to Human rights issues”. |

| Anti behavior competition fined to Microsoft by EU $1.4 bn, lesson of CSR |
| |
In 1975, two young men from Seattle founded a company William H. Gates III and Paul Allen transformed a new technology by building on the inventions of others, creating a mass market for what had once been a novelty for the few. The 1995 launch of Microsoft's revolutionary new product, Windows 95 was the biggest event in computing ever. “Microsoft was the first company in fifty years of EU Commission has had to fine for failure to comply with an antitrust decision", said European Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes. The European Commission has imposed a penalty payment of € 899 million on Microsoft for non-compliance with its obligations under the Commission’s March 2004 Decision, adopted under Article 24(2) of Regulation 1/2003. Microsoft had charged unreasonable prices for access to interface documentation for work group servers. The 2004 Decision, which was upheld by the Court of First Instance in September 2007, found that Microsoft had abused its dominant position under Article 82 of the EC Treaty, and required Microsoft to disclose interface documentation which would allow non-Microsoft work group servers to achieve full interoperability with Windows PCs and servers at a reasonable price. Fair competition ensure the corporate social responsibility and companies contribute constructively to the society. In the case of Microsoft they did not practice the CSR vision and faced the vulnerable situation in the society just because of their irresponsible attitude to wards society and industry.
The Commission’s Decision of March 2004 requires Microsoft to disclose complete and accurate interoperability information to developers of work group server operating systems on reasonable terms. Initially, Microsoft had demanded a royalty rate of 3.87% of a licensee's product revenues for a patent license, the "patent license" and of 2.98% for a license giving access to the secret interoperability information the "information license". The Commission made objection on 1st March 2007 that set out its concerns regarding Microsoft's unreasonable pricing. On 21 May 2007, Microsoft reduced its royalty rates to 0.7% for a patent license and 0.5% for an information license, as regards sales within the EEA, while leaving the worldwide rates unchanged. Only as from 22 October 2007 did Microsoft provide a license giving access to the interoperability information for a flat fee of €10 000 and an optional worldwide patent license for a reduced royalty of 0.4 % of licensees’ product revenues. Decision concludes that the royalties that Microsoft charged for the information license were unreasonable. Microsoft therefore failed to comply with the March 2004 Decision for three years, thereby continuing the behavior confirmed as illegal by the Court of First Instance. Final decision concerns a period of non-compliance not covered by the penalty payment decision of 12 July 2006 starting on 21 June 2006 and ending on 21 October 2007. The Decision does not cover the royalties for a distinct patent license. The Commission has based its conclusions as to the unreasonableness of Microsoft's royalties prior to 22 October 2007 on the lack of innovation in a very large proportion of the unpatented interoperability information. |

| Poverty is alarming: CSR is ignoring by Government Institutions and Flour Mills owners in Pakistan |
| |
Due to ineffective control of government institutions and mal practices of flour mills owner’s poverty is alarming. By stocking of flour and wheat mill owners, they are ignoring the corporate social responsibility and just having an objective to maximize the profits at any cost. They are contributing on one hand to current situation of political uncertainty and bringing hardships to the society at large level. Across the country situation is getting worst day by day, due to lack of significant efforts and immediate corrective action, people are suffering especially hitting the vulnerable groups of the society. Indeed government should take initiative to develop the corporate social responsibility ministry to properly train the human resource, develop the strong and effective control mechanisms. This is very credible evidence of corruption and definitely government can control such situations by appropriate measures on regular basis through CSR ministry. |

| Customer Unawareness, Can be fatal in Pakistani society |
| |
In the modern age, when the entire world is headed towards the globalization and tech boom people have become less cautious and busier with work and this obsession has driven them to near craziness where their lives are only devoted to their work. People now do not consider between what they eat, drink or wear. There care- free lives have also attracted quite a number of problems such as there health is not the same as it used to be in the early days. Now one cannot identify an old from young because now both share the same problems and diseases. Health is merely hanging on. People in Pakistan are mostly unaware of most of the facts including health issues. Which is becoming an Ethical issue?
As the companies tend toward their profit making ways, they risk the lives of thousands and more in there process and totally ignore the corporate social responsibility. By practicing only corporate philanthropy they assume they did the best in return to society. Companies pay less attention to their product details. On every product a company imprints details regarding the products manufactured date, sale price, product id and Expiry date and make sure provided information would not be miss leaded. Another issue that is related to customer unawareness is illiteracy and most of the people living in Pakistan are illiterate and English is difficult for them to understand. Most of the companies print their information in English which the villagers cannot understand and so hence forth they put their lives at stake by using such products. Most of the village or town stores never get new delivery as their sales do not resemble to that to cities so to avoid getting their shelves packed up like mountains the shopkeepers insist on selling there already available stock which may have passed the expiry date and could be harmful and infectious now. Sometimes even the delivery they get is expired. By awareness raising campaign these ethical issues can address and contribute constructively in the consumers rights

However Service and General Administration department, Government of Punjab, Pakistan did not accept his resignation despite the fact that he had fulfilled all legal requirements. It happens due to the reason that there was an inquiry opened against him on accusing charge of casting aspersions against minister and involvement in anti state activities. In defense he claimed that the department suddenly dropped all the investigation against him on March 15, 2007, when caretaking government was looking after the province and general election has been held and later accepted his resignation.
Agha imran requested that “I should be given protection so that I can return home join my duty and my family who suffered a lot in my absence”. This case is a clear violation of fundamental rights of the individual, threat right to life and forced displacement. Numerous amounts of cases have been reported through various modes of communication which reflect huge land mafias in Pakistan and those are direct threat to fundamental rights of the individual. |

| Distorted projection of Muslims through Dutch film “Fitna” |
| |
Human rights experts of United Nation condemn the Dutch film “Fitna” released on the internet. This film “Fitna” reflects the increased pattern of Muslim society exclusively indulged into violence and terrorism. The way film has been depicted provokes the issues of racial and religious hatred ness which would resultantly be a major threat to peace and social cohesion.
Dutch member of parliament Mr. Geert wilders in defence states that this film is projected in the light of Article 19 of universal declaration of human rights which states that “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers”. However, the human rights expert’s states that this is a clear content manipulation of not only Article 19 but also a clear violation and contradiction of Article 1 which states that “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in the spirit of brotherhood”
Freedom of expression is a fundamental human right which must be assured and given due respect but not at the cost of spreading religious and social anarchy. Being part of global community it should be nation’s utmost responsibility to project positivism and the spirit of brotherhood in order to lead the world to promote global peace and stability. |
